Description of Rescue

We are a State Registered nonprofit, however the 501(c)3 paperwork is not complete yet. We are located in East Berlin, PA (in the middle of York, Harrisburg, Gettsburg, and Hanover). Our rescue facility is not big, but we have big hearts. The main facility is only 3 acres with a 2 stall sick barn, 2 12x12 stalls in the "big barn" and one 12x24 foaling/run-in stall. We also have a 2 stall barn plus land at my parents home, and available land to use at Acres of Hope Rescue in MD. We just got incorporated in September of this year, but we've been doing private rescue for almost 4 years now. We are more of a rehoming facility than an actual rescue. We will take in underweight horses, and some with minor problems but considering our lack of space we need to be able to place them fairly quickly. We work mostly with pulling horses straight from the kill pens and getting them placed into good homes. As of this time we do not have a foster program in effect, but it is something we are considering. We do have a sponsorship program on our website for the horses. All of our adoption/rehoming policies and contracts can be found on our website. Our horses come from auctions, feedlots, and a few owner surrenders. Operating procedures; Anyone can visit anytime, I'm always here. Always looking for volunteers who will actually show up and work. Education programs; We are working with a brownie troop in the spring on horse education. We have alot of ideas but they haven't been put into place yet.

Horses

Pics/videos, and updated info is on our website. Judge Carrie (AKA: Hope) - First feedlot rescue along with Chance. She still needs alittle weight but otherwise she's doing great.

Chance - First feedlot rescue along with Hope. He has filled out wonderful and is in training at Acres of Hope Rescue for 30 days.

Jack The Lad - This boy couldn't be better! He's being very spoiled by his new owner, which is also a great volunteer of ours. I'm working on getting updated pictures of him on the website.

Jill - The black polo pony mare that we got along with Jack, is still with him and always will be. She's just as spoiled as he is :)

Mac - He was saved by a friend of ours who has always been there when we needed help. He's doing great as well.

Hanna - This girl was saved along with Jack, Jill, and Mac on the second trip. She's an amazing horse and is being adopted by our rescues co-founder Pat.

Ace - Saved on our 3rd trip. Great beginner safe horse. He has been adopted by another of our volunteers!

Snickers - Pony mare saved along with Ace and Mama. She's wonderful and great with the kids. I think she's going to get adopted this weekend.

Mama - Appy mare, we were told she was a camp horse. Bucked alittle first time ridden but after her "fit" she became a great horse to ride. Wonderful temperment. Sweet as they come. No, she's not pregnant although that was the excuse for why she was at the feedlot.

Sassy - TB mare saved on last trip to Camelot. She was the one protecting the QH foals. Very sweet temperment. She's in training for 30 days at Acres of Hope Rescue.

TJ- The horse that licked everyone. His temperment isn't quite the same anymore, but he trail rides great and might make a nice ranch horse. He needs something to do, all the time!

Questions from FOBs

I would like to know what happens if you have an emergency with one of your horses? How iwll you pay for it?

And what is the difference between you and a rescue? Do your horses not go out with return contracts?
