Bio
Hi, My name is Kerrie Daniels. I live in Northeastern, P.A. I donate my time and money to help my local horse rescues as well as others that are in need, (money and time permitting.) :-)
I have a couple babies of my own. They are residing with friends now while we sell this place and get some land. I am sure they will have LOTs of company when we get the land we need! :-)
I have known about horse slaughter for over 17 years. I have looked for many years to find a forum to post on and try to raise awareness of what is going on with our American Horses, Our National Treasures, Our Companions and friends. When I did find one, it was always the same. I got laughed at and attacked over and over.
Thanks to Tim Woolley racing and Alex Brown I finally found a comment section that lead to a wonderful fourm that helped to raise awareness and help get everyone involved in helping to Save America's Horses from the horrors of Slaughter.
What started as a way to get updates On BARBARO, lead to the most wonderful forum I have ever been on. Real, Genuine People that are honestly working to meet a common end. To End Horse Slaughter for our American Horses and to help out the horse rescues in need.
Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months and months turned to a year! Sometimes it seems we have been on here for 10 years. Then I take a step back and see how much has been accomplished in a YEAR. It just warms my heart to know that yes, there are people that honeslty care about our Horses. Domesticated and Wild.
Thankyou, Tim, Alex, Mr. and Mrs. Jackson, and of course BARBARO! I have said from day one, BARBARO, your mission was greater than a triple crown. You have touched many and opened many hearts and doors to help your brothers and sisters. In your memory we will continue to fight this until America's Horses are slaughtered no more! In the memory of those lost to slaughter and uncaring owners and breeders we will continue to fight to end horse slaughter to the end! then we will help those who need us around the world.
At times it get overwhelming, but we have each other to count on and help us through the tough times. That is why this forum is so very special. When One FOB falls or grows weary you can always count on the other FOB's to be there and take up the slack and hold the reins tighter and charge foward! I thankyou ALL. We have come a long way. I remember the early days of trying to figure out how a bill becomes law! LOL together we did just that. Those who went and still go to Washington I thankyou. The Horses thankyou. Thankyou Shelley A. And Debra for your daily call and fax lists. For all that you have done and continue to do day after day, I thankyou ALL!
Until they are all safe, we will never give up or give in. This is about the horses, not about us and that is what has kept us here. That is what has kept us a strong and loving large family.
Sorry, I didnt make the celebration this year. I will be at the next one. health problems got me. I should of listened to the wise words of the FOB who told me to go to the doctors last year. But, things are looking up now. I am still facing another surgery, that too shall pass. I will do all I can do to continue to fight and help out. This forum is like Home to me. You are all my family and I thankyou ALL. Thankyou for all you do to help end this barbaric thing called horse slaughter.
A HUGE THANKYOU!! To ALL the rescues that work so tirelessly. Give unconditional love and do it not for the fame or glory. They do it because they care. They are HERO's.
In loving Memory Of Commanche. Your spirit will always be with me as I continue to fight.
Horse experience
I started riding and taking lessons at the age of 5. My mom who owned Shorty, her black and white pinto, took me to Leo who was a tough as nails trainer for us students. he taught me how to ride with no fear. He taught me to love the horses and listen to them. I will always remember my Mom getting mad when he would yell. LOL It seemed he always put me on the big horses! LOL I knew he cared when he would yell at me for doing something wrong. He was looking after me and mostly he was looking out for his horses. He used a loving touch with his horses and always put them first. I thank him for that. I thank him for teaching me what it is to be a real horsewomen. I have carried what He taught me throughout my life. RIP Leo, you were one of the Good Guys. I remember his sons horse TRAVELER a blind Palamino that would come out of the barn at age 32 and walk and graze while we took lessons.
I do own 2 horses, who are now with friends. They are not with me everyday but they are in my heart always. I know they are safe and one day soon they will be with me all the time.
I also had an Arab/Quarter horse named TY. He was quite a character. Loved to
take the bit and take "me" for a ride! LOL He taught me alot about paitience. I wish he would of taught me about "training forks"! LOL I didnt like using them on him. I learned to keep his head "under him". After many nights coming home to Mineral Ice and a epsom salts to soak my arms. LOL he would of done great at dressage and vaulting! LOL
He would follow me around like a puppy dog. watch my every move in the barn as I cared for the other horses. He loved peppermints too! I spent many "bad" days sitting in his stall talking to him and yes, he would listen to me. the days were no longer bad after he and I had a talk and went for a ride. I miss you TY, you too are in my heart always. You taught me alot. I am forever indebted to you.
I remember all the horses I rode at Leo's over the years when I was young. they too will be with me always.
I worked at an equestrian center. I learned alot from my friend there. she uses the "Marty Robbins" & "John Lyons" techniques and has trained many horses over the years. I really learned alot from her.
