Description of Rescue
Wood End Farms is a 501(c)3 non-profit that retrains and rehabilitates retired Thoroughbred racehorses and promotes using off-track Thoroughbreds (“OTTBs”) for use as riding horses and in sport horse disciplines. Wood End supports owners of retired Thoroughbreds by providing resources, education and a supportive environment.
Built on a sustainable business model, Wood End Farms is funded by proceeds from farm operations, which include horse boarding, riding lessons, horse swimming, layups and a variety of other services, as well as horse sales. Wood End also relies on donors, sponsors and grants for additional funding.
Wood End Farms is located in the Chicago suburb of Barrington, Illinois.
Our horses come from a variety of sources - racetrack trainers, private owners and CANTER.
