Basics
The Tin Man (Pedigree) won the Shoemaker Mile, a grade 1. He is only the third nine year old in recent history to win a grade 1 stake (John Henry (Wikipedia)achieved this feat in 1984, John's Call in 2000).
The Tin Man (barn name: Tinny) has won four of his last six starts, three of which were grade 1 races. The Tin Man is trained by Richard Mandella (Wikipedia) at Hollywood Park. They did consider the Hollywood Gold Cup: Could Gold Cup Be On Tap for The Tin Man?. They decided to run in the American on the Gold Cup undercard: The Tin Man a go for American Cap ... he finished a close second, giving plenty of weight. His next start was the Arlington Million, where he again finished second, this time to a late charging Jambalaya.
Arlington Million
The Tin Man ran a terrific race in defeat, looking like the winner turning for home he was beaten by the late charging Jambalaya on a soft turf course. The Tin Man looks like he is in peak form right now.
