Talk:Dreamchaser PMU Rescue & Rehabilitation, Inc
From AlexBrownRacing
Time for an update from Dreamchaser PMU Rescue. We are currently at 55 horses, with hay at $12 and $14 per bale. The cost of the hay alone is a staggering $6,000 per month with no letup in sight. We are doing everything we can think of to raise money.
All horses are gentled with the exception of 10 of the newest rescues. Four of these horses, Brooks, Boss, Roman, and Duke, came directly from Fallon feedlot in Nevada. The feedlot is the last step before slaughter, and we are exceedingly grateful that we obtained these four thru the help of Shirley Puga. All four are now haltered and leading and learning to accept touch.
Five of our nine are from a closed herd in Texas, heading for slaughter as well. These are three fillies, one colt, and one newly castrated stallion my daughter named 'Ate'. Ate is Lakota for 'father', and he is indeed the father of these four youngsters. The pregnant mares were sent on to a rescue in California.
Having given Ate and his kids a couple of months of freedom in our upper turnout, we are now setting up four stalls in the area so we can begin gentling the foals. All are supposed Saddlebreds, and all but one are pintos.
We look for your comments, and appreciate your support. Let us keep on educating people on Premarin, so the drug becomes a thing of the past, and horses no longer suffer and die for it.
