Description of Rescue
Scarlet Rose Farm is a privately funded horse rescue located in New Milford, Connecticut. We are rescue that works rescue, rehabilitate & rehome horses in jeopardy of slaughter and specialize in Haflinger's & other draft type ponies. Scarlet Rose Farm was formed in 2008 and since July of 2008 we have been able to succesfully rescue, rehab and rehome 13 horses who otherwise would have been shipped to slaughter for human consumption abroad. Currently we are 5 volunteers strong and growing :-) Scarlet Rose Farm is capable of housing 7 horses at a time and has an off-site 2 stall quarantine barn. Our rescues come from auctions, broker lots, kill-pens and local residents. In addition to our work that we do to help horses out of the auction circuit once they are already in it...we also work with people in our area to help them place their horses instead of shipping them to a horse auction.
