Bio
Hi my name is Sabrina and I live in Harrisburg, PA. I love hiking with my dog, reading, gardening and working around my house. I also enjoy horseback riding, and Aikido (a martial art from Japan) but currently don't do that stuff as much as I'd like.
I volunteer for Ruff Life Rescue wiki which I found through the Barbaro Forum and adopted a dog through them.
I visited the Tim Woolley website (now Alex Brown website) on the Monday after Barbaro won the Kentucky Derby. I didn't sign up in the message forum until that Sept. after he had had several surgeries.
How many people can say that they have had their dream job? I can, as a Massachusetts Park Ranger in the Mounted Unit. I know Boston by horseback! I love horses, and learned all I know about horse racing from reading all of the Black Stallion books by Walter Farley. I earned my lessons as a working student at several different barns and I took hunter and dressage lessons, and did some low level showing. I ridden in a lot of parades and on 2 fox hunts. I have ridden many breeds of horses, everything from a Welsh pony and a Fjord to a Shire as well as a Clydesdale and lots inbetween! My love of horses brought me to a degree in Animal Science, focus in Equine Management from Thompson School of Applied Science at the Univ. of New Hampshire, which is a great program.
A lot of change has happened in the past 9 months including buying a house. I enjoy traveling (although not anymore with my first house!) I have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as in VA. In addition to my Animal Science degree, I also have a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Studies, with a minor in Wildlife Conservation from UMass Amherst. I surveyed students regarding hunting and animal rights for thesis work. Finally, I round out my nerdiness with a Master of Forest Resources degree with an option in Watershed Stewardship from Penn State. Currently, I work in watershed management/water resource planning within state government.
Horse experience
I love Andalusian horses (aka Pure Spanish Horses). Here is a gorgeous horse that I totally have a crush on, and who also happens to be an excellent example of the breed. Basilio
Some day!
