Description of Rescue
Rainbow Meadows Equine Rescue and Retirement, Inc., located in Sedan, Kansas on Rainbow Meadows Ranch, was established in 2005 as a safe haven for abused, neglected and abandoned horses. It also offers a location of retirement for our loyal equine friends where they can rest and relax until the end of their days.
Rainbow Meadows represents the lifelong dream of Karen and David Everhart. Karen was a horse lover from birth and she and David had been looking for the opportunity to give back to the creatures that had brought her so much joy for so many years. That opportunity finally arose with the establishment of Rainbow Meadows Ranch.
Rainbow Meadows Ranch is a 240-acre ranch in the rolling Osage hills near Sedan, Kansas. Rainbow Meadows Equine Rescue and Retirement, Inc. is housed on the ranch and supports numerous rescued and retired horses. The rescues include those that are blind, lame, victims of stroke, neglected or otherwise physically impaired. The retired horses are geriatrics living out the remainder of their days in peace.
While those that are physically able run the 240 acres with the ranch's personal herd, the rest are at home on 5-acre pastures. They are all provided the utmost in care to meet their physical and emotional needs.
Rainbow Meadows Equine Rescue and Retirement, Inc. has many beloved volunteers and donors. However, it continues to be in need of contributions to assure its future success. All services provided by Rainbow Meadows Equine Rescue and Retirement, Inc. are funded entirely by gifts and donations. It is an IRS-designated 501(c)(3) public charity, and all contributions are tax deductible.
