Two young colts, both starved, both exposed to freezing temperatures. One does not survive his ordeal; the other does. Two young colts whose lives would have gone unnoticed except for the fact that their young spirits caught the spirits of people around them and galvanized the people into action. From that, One Horse At A Time, Inc. was born.

We are a small but dedicated group whose mission is to provide resources to those who rescue horses, to educate the public about responsible equine ownership, and to teach people to recognize and report signs of neglect/abuse in order to save horses, one horse at a time. We strongly support efforts to end the illegal practice of soring and padding the Walking Horse breeds. We strongly support the Fans of Barbaro in their quest to end laminitis and horse-slaughter. And we strongly support those people who, with their own vision, step up and help other horses and horse-owners.

We are fighters and survivors. Recently, we have had to retain legal counsel in order to protect our corporate property, reputation, and standing. We will prevail in these efforts. We’re here to stay. And we mean it.
