Bio

My name is Michelle and I am an executive assistant to several SVPs at a large bank in NC. My job is high-stress, so I love having my horses - they balance my life! I have been involved with horses for 30+ years: riding, raising, training, rescue and rehab, and most of all: loving them with a passion.

I learned about horse slaughter, the PMU and nursemare foal industries on TWR back in 2006 and my life is forever changed. I will never stop fighting for the welfare of our horses, and will work hard and donate as much as possible to save them from harm.

Horse experience

My life with horses began when I was 11 years old, when I took riding lessons for one year before my mother would let me buy my first horse. I have raised, trained and showed my horses over the years. I found my OTTB gelding "Rally" starving to death in someone's backyard near my home in 2005. The old man that owned Rally was selling him in this terrible condition, so I purchased him right away and nursed him back to health over several months - Rally is a very healthy and happy horse now, and he is the "love of my life" (my poor husband!)

Ever since the shock of finding Rally and realizing this kind of abuse exists, my spare time, energy, funds, and passion is spent to help more horses in this situation and especially to save them from slaughter. I also work to save the nursemare foals during "foal season" - The need for our equines is great, but we can do this if we keep working together toward a common goal!

FOB activities

I support several horse rescues, and I have helped to raise funds for Last Chance Corral (nursemare foals) and Pure Thoughts Horse and Foal rescue:

I have learned so much since finding the TWR website in 2006. Although there have been a lot of tears and heartache, I am much stronger and wiser now for having learned the painful truth about horse slaughter, horse abuse and neglect.

FOB Network

I have connected with many wonderful FOBs these past few years, and it is comforting to realize we share a common goal...SAVING OUR HORSES!!!
