Bio

I grew up in central New York where I lived until my 30s. I have lived in Florida (does 6 months count as "living" somewhere?) and Ohio and have been a resident of beautiful Maine since 1991. I have a varied work career but finally found my forever job 9 years ago in the Technical Services department of an academic library. This means I order the books, receive the books, catalog the books and repair the books. I work with other formats, too, but it's still a book-based world! Aside from horse-related activities, I enjoy gardening and quiiting and downhill and cross-country skiing.

Horse experience

I have always loved horses. As the only member of a group of friends who did NOT own a horse, so I was the official groom and braider and photographer for all the shows when I was younger. I've never lost my love of horses but it has been put aside for many years. Barbaro brought me back. (Thank you, Barbaro!)

FOB activities

I was so disheartened to learn about the slaughterhouses, so I contact my legislators to become co-sponsors. I make contributions to the Laminitis Fund at the University of Pennsylvania every month. I contributed to the Missouri Humane Society, both last October and for Mother's Day. I also participated long-distance in the birthday celebrations for Dr. Richardson and for Alex. And, I was the organizer for the Maine FOB birthday celebration.

FOB Network

I haven't connected permanently with anyone but I appreciate my fellow early-risers!

Thank you, Marg, for your contributions to the laminitis fund! As a horse owner, who has now been struck by the horrible disease, I appreciate every $ pointed towards more research and understanding of Laminitis! I have spent some time updating our Laminitis research wiki as well - please check it out. swedishkat
