6/30...Yesterday we said goodbye to Tiz Max, a big gray gelding with a bowed tendon. Megan in Fairfield has been a foster parent for us since early 2004, and Tiz Max needs at least 10 months of quiet time. Megan has a grassy paddock that is perfect for Max. His bowed tendon will be wrapped and rewrapped, with cold water hosing. In 2005 we sent Megan Drew Barrymore, a cute gray filly who also had a bowed tendon. Megan did an amazing job rehabbing Drew Barrymore. In 2006 Drew Barrymore was adopted by an event trainer in Castro Valley. Today Drew Barrymore gives lessons to beginning riders, only her name was changed to Juice. Megan loves gray thoroughbreds. On her small ranch are 16 horses, and 12 of them are gray. When we rescue an injured gray race horse, Megan is the first person I phone.

7/21...I need to tell you about Jessica and Jill, and they own a small ranch near Davis. Our newest foster parents. Three separate grassy paddocks, and not a fly in the joint. A beautiful 6 stall barn, with 13 cats who patrol the grounds. Jessica and Jill board privately for friends. The money earned from boarders mostly covers their mortgage payment, and how great is that? Later today we will send Jessica and Jill two skinny thoroughbreds who will obviously love those grassy paddocks. Thank you so much Jessica and Jill, and it was great to see you both.

Two other foster families have been approved, but they ask I not write about them. Our network continues to grow. After this weekend there will be at least 104 horses in foster care. Mind boggling numbers. How do you thank those who feed and care for your horses? The greatest gift of all. Sharing your home with needy animals.
