Bio
Hello! We live in Fayetteville (Hot Rock) Tennessee in the woods by a creek. I (Kathy) am a Research Administrator by trade and a farmer by hobby. We have a herd of Nubian Dairy Goats (30), Nishikigoi (Koi), and many other animals. Richard is a Pharmaceutical Chemist. We don’t have any human kids, but all of our animals are treated as children.
Horse experience
My idols as a child were always horses. I read horse books and talked of nothing else. Above all, I loved racing. Other children had “The Partridge Family” on their bedroom walls. I had pages torn from the newspaper or sports magazines of race horses. I was given the choice of vacations one year and chose Lexington Kentucky. At Claiborne I met my idols: Secretariat, Riva Ridge (my first love), Round Table, Nijinsky, Hoist the Flag, Buckpasser, etc. Secretariat even nipped me. I treasure that moment and day. After that I haunted the Fair Grounds in New Orleans every chance that I could, a railbird. I wept when the old grand stand burned years ago. My only other brush with racing greatness was when I took Desert Orchid’s (Dessie’s) owner to the Fair Grounds. I have had 2 horses who have taught me to care and be humble (Skippy and currently Chigger’s Destiny) both Quarter Horses and both kind and gentle souls.
FOB activities
Although not vocal on the pages I donate to worthy causes and call my senators and representatives to help end slaughter. If I had more pasture I would love to adopt a rescue.

Hi there Lonecedar! Just read that your teen idols were Hoist The Flag and Buckpasser (among others...) - I have an 18 year old gelding with both of those guys in his pedigree and Damascus. His name is Allege Proof pedigree and if you want to check him out, he's on my Wiki-page swedishkat. My intention is to put more pics of him there (Mango) eventually...
Hello swedishkat! Yes Hoist the Flag was wonderful. He was a favorite to win the Triple Crown in 1971 and just before the Derby suffered a terrible fracture. They were going to euthanize, but opted for surgery and he survived! When I met him he was in his stall and had a cast and bandages, it was in May of 1975. He was very sweet and loved visitors, not at all flighty which I am sure served him well being stall bound. Buckpasser was beautiful as was Damascus. He was at Claiborne as well, but way out in his paddock and we didn't get a close visit. Love your wiki page!! I visited Sweden in 1978 what a beautiful country! ~Lonecedar
