Interpreting a Lip Tattoo from a Name

A kind of reverse look-up is needed. If you know the name of the horse you are seeking, and need to know it's lip tattoo, you need to have access to the horse's foal papers. The papers includes a registration number (certificate number.) The first two numbers relate to the year the horse was born (06 means the horse was born in 2006) and the final five numbers are the five numbers used for the lip tattoo. The year of birth is represented by a letter in the lip tattoo as such:

Thoroughbred tattoos (letter=year born):

A 1971 B 1972 C 1973 D 1974 E 1975 F 1976 G 1977 H 1978 I 1979 J 1980 K 1981 L 1982 M 1983 N 1984 O 1985 P 1986 Q 1987 R 1988 S 1989 T 1990 U 1991 V 1992 W 1993 X 1994 Y 1995 Z 1996

A 1997 B 1998 C 1999 D 2000 E 2001 F 2002 G 2003 H 2004 I 2005 J 2006 K 2007 L 2008 M 2009 N 2010 and so on...

Thus if a horse's registration number is 0624525, then it's lip tattoo will be: J24525
