Story:
Lindy was one of the mares located at Indian Joe's in NEPA that PonyTales has been working so hard to rescue. Lindy and Mattie were pulled by Laurie at PonyTales and fostered by Karin. Karin did a great job making sure that Linday was put back on the road to good health. She has been wormed, vaccinated, fed, and most of all loved. The improvement in Lindy is amazing and within a few more months the physical evidence of her ordeal will be gone.
Lindy is very sweet and is reportedly trained to ride and drive. She does have a dropped hip but our vet says that it should not cause her any problems. When Mattie is weaned Lindy will be available for adoption and she is going to make someone a wonderful horse. Mattie is still shy but there is not a mean bone in his body. He is very attached to mom so we will find him a buddy before we attempt to wean him.
Lindy is a 15 hand Percheron X mare. Rides and drives, has a dropped hip, but it does not cause her to be lame. Most likely bred back,
UPDATES
8/27/07: On a happier note Sue, Mom, and I traveled to
Deliverance again to pick up Lindy and Matapeake
aka Mattie. Just so you know I am in love with
this mare(that happens a lot doesn't it?) and
she is going to be a great trail horse. She is
relatively short in stature and has gained a
good bit of weight while in quarantine with her
foster mom Karin. She never broke a sweat on
the loooooong ride home and walked off the
trailer and into the barnyard totally
unconcerned. This girl is very laid back and
just takes everything in stride. My kind of
girl. Mattie is still a little shy and sticking
very close to mom in the new surroundings but he
will come around soon I'm sure
8/28/07: I kept Lindy and Mattie in the barnyard last
night and trailered them back to the back
pasture this morning. Lindy took one look at
all that grass, plunked her head down into it,
and promptly dismissed me. Guess I know where I
stand. That's OK I still love her.
8/30/07: Lindy and Mattie are happy as little clams with
their heads buried in the grass. The only come
up for feed and little loving and then back to
the grass.
9/10/07: Lindy and Mattie are great and have settled into
their routine. Lindy had a visit with a
possible adopter today and they really hit it
off well. This sweet girl may have a new home
on the horizon. Mattie is just such a love bug
I know he will find a home quickly.
9/14/07: Lindy and Mattie are great and a potential
adopter is coming out to test ride Lindy
today. If all goes well Lindy should be going
home soon and Mattie will also be weaned at
that time.
9/23/07: Lindy will be moving to the front pasture when
Misty and Tommy go home in a couple of weeks.
10/12/07: Lindy and Mattie are fat and sassy and loving
it back in their pasture. They just get to eat
all day and be horses. What more could they
ask. Although Mattie is not going to be very
happy at weaning time. Soon little boy, soon.
10/26/07: Lindy just continues to widen and Mattie is
growing by leaps and bounds. Dr. Mitchell
will be out on Monday the 29th to do preg
checks on Lindy and Marisol, x-rays on Lady,
and remove stitches from Ebony.
Lindy will be moving to the front pasture
along with Marisol, Lady, Bather, and Carmen.
10/29/07: Lindy - Pregnant, get those sleep over tents
dusted off. Come late spring we're going to
have a baby.
Quick update on Lindy and Mattie. Lindy was
trimmed today and trust me when I say she made
us earn that one. Ugh! That big girl is
really strong and really determined. I guess
we should cut her a little slack considering
the liberties taken by the vet during her
pregnancy check. She did have an eventful
day. lol
Mattie was right in the thick of things and
didn't miss a trick. He spent most of his
time sticking his nose under Tommy's arm while
he was trying to work. The little stinker is
very nosey. I have been working with him and
lifting his feet so the next time Tommy comes
out he will get his first real trim too.
Can't wait.
11/13/07: Brenda, Dolly'd mom has adopted Mattie
to keep her mare company and to raise as a
well loved trail horse. I know that Mattie
will lead a pampered life and he and Dream
will have great times together.
11/27/07: Lindy is getting wider and wider every day,
bless her heart, and she is just the sweetest
thing. She is going to make someone a
wonderful horse.
12/03/07: Lindy was no problem as usual and loaded
right up, went back to the back pasture, and
took up her friendship with Ebony where it
left off. She is such a sweet and gentle
girl.
12/17/07: Lindy just keeps getting wider and wider. I
hope you guys all have your tents ready for
baby watch. At this point I am guessing
probably sometime between April and late
May. Mmmm babies. Gotta' love 'em.
1/3/08: Lindy is also gaining weight, not that she
needs any more, and is getting more and
more round everyday. She is such a sweet
girl and I can't wait until it's time for
her to foal. I hope y'all have your tents
ready. LOL
1/15/08: Actually I just spoke with Brenda a few
days ago and Mattie is doing great. He is
growing like a weed and that's what we like
to hear.
STATUS
Lindy is approximately 8-10 years old, a Percheron cross,
15' and trained to drive and ride. She has not been ridden or
driven in several years so would need a refresher. Lindy has
a wonderful, gentle disposition and will make someone a
terrific trail horse. She does have a dropped hip but has no
lameness and the vet feels that it will not bother her for
riding or driving. She is up to date on everything and ready
for her new home.
Adoption fee: $1000 Adoption Pending
Matapeake (Mattie)
Mattie is approximately 5/6 months old and is the sweetest
little boy ever. He is shedding out and it appears that he
is going to be a grey like his dad. Mattie is 1/2 Percheron
and should mature between 15' and 16'. He has a truly gentle
disposition and is going to make a wonderful horse. He is
available now ungelded.
Adoption fee: ADOPTED
