GISELLE saved from Don Nickerson's kill pen on 5/21 for $450.
She had been bought by the KB that day for slaughter but was pulled by AC4H after the sale.
Here she is waiting for her ride to the rescue.
Giselle on 6/15 being evaluated at AC4H. She is not a big horse but would make a great mount for a light rider. See AC4H Available Horses She does have a "lowback" but is "very quiet and easy to handle comfortable gaits and beautiful color... a real pleasure."
I think she's stunning Don't you? But her flashy color is also what landed her in the kill pen. Saddlebreds, in certain areas of the country, are not prized for their color. Solids being preferred. Check this out
CHEVEYO saved 5/21. Named by Jen E., Cheveyo means Spirit Warrior.
See how he has total trust in his rider
As Cheveyo was ridden through the ring at New Holland on May 21st, he did whatever his rider asked him to, but it wasn't enough. He was bought by one of the most infamous killbuyers in the mid-atlantic region. But, wait a second. This 8 year old Pintaloosa gelding is blind. And blind horses aren't supposed to be sold to slaughter. Amazingly, this was one of the times the rules were followed. Christy was able to buy him from the KB and brought him to safety. On the left: after auction and waiting for his ride. ............ On the right: A few days later at AC4H.
Read THE E-MAILS about Cheveyo from his former owner's trainer to Christy at AC4H
MARQUETTE first came into my life when she appeared on the broker pages from the AC4H website. She was thin, bedraggled and ill. She had been through auction with several others, but she became extremely ill from strangles, lost much of her muscle mass and nearly died.
She is currently in rehab at AC4H
MARQUETTE at the brokers in mid March .........
MARQUETTE HAS A SETBACK in early May.
Early June - you can see that her stance is continuing to improve. MARQUETTE New fly Mask and Goji Juice on June 22nd

COSTS of Euthanasia Survey
This is a sample survey of Euthanasia Costs around the country. It isn't a large enough sample to be a definitive survey and is still in the beginning stages, however it does have input from all regions of the country. Please leave me a note in the comments section if you wish to add information on euthanasia cost in your area. Please include vet fees, burial or rendering options and prices.
My thanks again to Jen E. and all the folks who offered information on such a depressing topic.

Lisa I just wanted to tell you that I read your page about YOUR HOST - what a GREAT horse - and I had never heard about him before...SO sad, when he was "asking" his groom for help, when he was injured on the track. But what a great spirit!!! (You can take this section off, if you want, I just didn't know where to write this to you) :-) (swedishkat)
