Bio
I live in Florida's Space Coast - Palm Bay, specifically, with my husband, Denny and our German Shepherd, Kaiser. We moved here from Pennsylvania in 2001. I have a great job, which is a legal assistant in a small law firm. We attend a wonderful church named Calvary Chapel. We have 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren.
Horse experience
I have loved and been fascinated by horses my entire life. Moving to Florida gave me the opportunity I've always wanted - to ride. When I got on the horse for the first time I felt like I was meant to be there. I took lessons for about 18 months but now I just ride for enjoyment. I have a great situation at a nearby stable - unlimited riding on an Arabian named Lyra. I spend at least one day a week at a friend's farm cleaning stalls, grooming, feeding and doing whatever needs to be done. She takes horses and ponies nobody else wants and I do everything I can to help her. I sometimes attend local horse shows and have thought of entering. Whether I ride or not, I want to spend the rest of my life around horses. They give me a feeling I can't find anywhere else.
FOB activities
I found the TWR site immediately after Barbaro's injury but didn't start to comment until I built up a bit of confidence. I had been involved in fighting horse slaughter prior to that but totally immersed myself in the movement and spend as much time as I can spare fighting to end it. I support many rescues and all animal causes in general.I love MHR, TB Friends and many other equine rescue organizations. I join in the effort to fight laminitis and will push for race track safety. Through TWR I have learned so much about horses that I didn't know before and consider it a blessing to be part of the Fans of Barbaro, a group of wonderful, kind, caring people.
FOB Network
When Alex opened the Chat Room and Discussion Boards I decided to spend time there. I'm in the Chat Room almost every night with a great bunch. Some of us have been there from the time it opened, specifically Jen, Ro, Wendy, Lynda and lots of others who have joined in over the months. I've met several Fans here in Florida at the recent Barbaro birthday celebration at Tampa Bay Downs. I felt like I've known them for years. I also got to meet Patrick, Jen's TB on that same trip. I've had the wonderful opportunity to meet Barbi M. who lives an hour south of me and has 2 TB's. She and I traveled to Tampa Bay Downs together and had a great time. I hope to get to meet some of the PA FOBs when I travel there in a few months. I'd love to meet ALL FOBs.
