Help talk:Contents

Hi I'm new here. I live in Western Washington (state) and I'm looking for answers, help, whatever. I have just had the unpleasurable experience of meeting one of these guys refered to as "kill buyers" is what he's doing illegal at all, would be my first question? I have no problem with making an appropriate phone call. Unfortunately from what I'm reading here it does not sound as if he's doing anything that I can call about. Let me back up and tell you what I know. I had been told prior to meeting this guy that he buys from auction houses cheap and has an ad in the paper that says he buys unwanted horses for cash. I had him try to sell me any one of about 10 horses for $500. each he said "I don't want to see them "kilt" but I've got too many." They are not starved or lame but a couple are thin and a couple pretty swaybacked, there are some unattended scratches but nothing major that I saw. He has more horses than just the 10 and I don't know how many more "But those cost more sis." I know where these horses are going ultimately, from what I've heard they are shipped to or through Idaho. Is it possible that there are any smaller slaughter operations going on or are they hitting a feed lot? These horses are mostly quite friendly (there are two young geldings that are'nt-they're the thinnest ones). Can I do anything about this guy? I have very limited income (my husband is disabled) but I do have land and access to neighboring property for a total of about 60 acres. We currently have an older Arab mare and a slaughter rescue gelding thanks to my daughter's quick actions. I have some room and time, I am a fairly good vet for minor injuries and infections, for the big stuff I have an excellent local (real) vet. I know the rescue facillities are filling up fast, many are full and turning folks away. We want to help. Please advise if possible on if I can call someone about this guy or is what he's doing within the law. I'm trying to sell my pick-up in whole or parting out to raise the money for at least one of them. I can't sleep and have been crying for two days reading the stories and I can't forget the faces. They have water but I saw no hay until they tried to get them to come over for us to look (they are in dirt pens) the one's that cost more have some grass. Any suggestions, comments or information would be helpful. Thanking you in advance for your responses! Arabrescuelady@yahoo.com
