Gato Del Sol was returned to the United States from Germany in 2000. He is now pensioned at Stone Farm. Owner Arthur Hancock bought him back to avoid a repeat of what happend to another famous racehorse, Exceller : an untimely death in a slaughterhouse.
Euthanized Aug.7, 2007 from the infirmities of old age. Rest in peace
