Barbaro(tm) Jewelry to Benefit The Fund for Laminitis Research

BARBARO_gold_brooch.jpg BARBARO_sterling_brooch.jpg

Jane Heart announces the introduction of her original, licensed jewelry designs of the charismatic race horse Barbaro. Through his valiant fight to recover from a broken leg and then laminitis, he touched our hearts with his courage and incredible spirit. In cooperation with Gretchen Jackson, Jane has adapted a favorite picture of Barbaro, looking out of his stall the morning of the Preakness, to an inspirational heart design. Our powerful heart center is our guide in this world to help us on our path. It aligns us and helps us stay true to ourselves if we listen and follow its messages. As we know, Barbaro had an incredible amount of heart and was destined for greatness with his speed and love of racing. This design, whether we wear it or just look at it, will be an inspirational reminder of the great heart of Barbaro and give us hope and courage.

Mrs. Jackson said Barbaro had a way of looking, of knowing. Maybe he knew he had a special mission that would have an impact on the future of the wellness of all horses. From the establishment of many research funds, to legislation for the protection of horses, Barbaro has produced a groundswell that is his legacy. His name will endure forever, and record how he inspired many to make strides forward that will help his fellow horses and those who love and care for them. Barbaro has pointed the way for us to do the same to follow his lead and be of service and enrich this world through worthy causes that need champions. He has shown us that each of us has a unique and special purpose, and that we can help others whether it be man or animals in very important ways.

We also learned other things from Barbaro that we can apply to our lives every day. He inspired us in many ways, by first showing us how it feels to win when we follow our hearts and our passion by developing our talents and strengths. He showed us how to handle adversity with calmness, intelligence, a remarkable spirit, and a strong will to live. Barbaro also brought us all together and proved that we are all connected through the power of love.

When Mrs. Jackson spoke about Barbaro, she hoped that each of us might find a certain path that interests us in regard to horses. Mine was to find a cause to support that would benefit horses and their owners through my jewelry designs. When I read about the Laminitis Fund, I immediately knew that this was my direction. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each piece will go to the Fund for Laminitis Research at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. I am truly grateful that I was inspired by Barbaro to design this jewelry, and honored that Mr. and Mrs. Jackson granted me the license. I thank you, in advance, for your support of the Laminitis Fund through the purchase of these keepsake pieces. May these designs of Barbaro inspire you on your lifes journey, and his heart, spirit, and guidance be with you always. With his heart he inspires ours.

The first Jane Heart designs of Barbaro are a heart brooch or tie tack pin that retail for $210 and the heart pendant on a snake chain for $235 in sterling silver. This design is also available in gold and information is on the web site. Other styles and Limited Edition pieces will be announced as they are developed.

All Jane Heart designs are made and hand finished in Arizona. Each piece has the BARBARO trademark stamp on the back above the Jane Heart logo stamp and arrives in a gift box with a commemorative card with the message With his heart he inspires ours. The designs are available to order on line at www.janeheart.com. Retail locations will be announced at a later date.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each piece will go to the Fund for Laminitis Research at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.

The trademark BARBARO is used under license.

FOB Photos for Charity

479800698_0f07a8ea83_m.jpg

I've been approached by many of you regarding my photos. Because of that I've decided to begin selling them. I'm offering them on a website (see link below) and the proceeds from the sale of the photos will be going to the Thoroughbred Charities of America. I've only put up a few photos - the ones with requests and a couple of my favs. If you have a particular photo you like, I will be happy to add it to the mix. Just let me know which one. You can see ALL my photos on my flickr account by clicking here. Keep in mind I have many photos for my work blog (golf stuff) on there as well. I think the sets are pretty well marked so you know what they are. Of course you're welcome to look at any or all of them!  :)

I'm doing this on a trial basis. My plan is to continue this and to direct the proceeds to the appropriate charities based on where the photos came (eg Miracle Horse Rescue photos proceeds go to MHR, Old Friends photos proceeds go to Old Friends, etc.).

MUSICAL HORSE AID - SEPT. 15TH '07

MUSICAL HORSE AID BENEFIT CONCERT TO BE HELD THIS SEPTEMBER IN SOUTHEASTERN WISCONSIN ADVANCE SALES $25 KIDS UNDER 12 FREE [1]

MUSICAL HORSE AID BENEFIT CONCERT TO BE HELD THIS SEPTEMBER 15TH IN SOUTHEASTERN WISCONSIN

An Event To Increase Awareness And Raise Funds For The Care, Safety And Rescue Of Horses brings Live Acts, Guest Speakers and Horse Fans from across the country.

Animal Fairy Charities Inc. is presenting the Musical Horse Aid benefit concert September 15th at the Walworth County FairGrounds. Musical Horse Aid is a day long event featuring live entertainment and performances by various bands.

The Event is being held to increase awareness and raise funds for the care, safety and rescue of horses.

Over the past several years the public has become more in tune with the needs of retired horses and have stepped up to the plate to help fund various organizations that provide our horses with a safe haven.

Currently, legislation is pending that could end the slaughter of American horses. This has created a national movement to rescue horses and help fund the organizations that provide care and shelter for our horses.

We must support our Equine Rescue organizations that give these horses the second chance they need. Most can be successfully retrained for second careers as show horses, companion horses, riding horses and even therapy horses for the handicapped. Those that can not go on to a new career are able to live out their lives in peace and dignity with loving people that care for them.

Musical Horse Aid will run from noon until 10 pm. The Wisconsin National Guard will open and close the event with Full Color Guard and a National Anthem Tribute. The Kettle Moraine Rough Riders will also be perfoming at the event.

The entertainment line up will range in musical styles from country, folk to rock. The featured bands include: Brian Stace of Nashville; Ronnie Nyles & the Krash Band of Milwaukee; Martha Berner of Chicago; Spiral Trance; Twang Dragons; Brent Mitchell from Austin Texas, and Twisting Roses from IL, and Musical comedy interludes performed by CJ of the Mythic Figs appearing as Pot Luck from Indiana.

Various speakers are also scheduled throughout the event including Shelley Abrams from PA (board memeber of the R.A.C.E FUN, Gail Vacca, IL speaking on behalf of The Animal Welfare Institue, Jill Fritz from Minnesota to speak on behalf of The Humane Society of the United States, Shelley Sawhook President of The American Horse Defense Fund from DC, Barbara Boubelik-Chmielewski, IL founder and executive director of Lazy Maple Equine & Rescue Rehabilitation Center, Sandy Kimpfbeck, WI Board member of Midwest Horse Welfare Foundation and more special guests!

Kentucky Equine Humane Center 1st Annual All Breeds Horse Show

Fans of Barbaro are raising funds to sponsor at least one class in this horse show. The Horse Show will be March 29, 2008 in Shelbyville, KY. The cost to sponsor one class is $250.00.

Update: Well the first edition of the Kentucky Equine Humane Center All Breed Horse show was a success. It was a cold and sunny day. But those that braved the temperatures had fun.

As was the intent, there were a variety of breeds showing, arabians, saddlebreds, thoroughbreds, fresians, quarter horses, and mixed breeds many times showing in the same class. It really brought back childhood memories as this is how I started showing horses when I was kid.

Mostly children showed. It was a great show to get a novice rider or novice horse started. Nothing too formal and the atmosphere was relaxed.

The FOBs that participated can be proud to have helped in this fund raising effort.FOBs raised $385.00 total

The Humane Center brought 4 horses to the horse show. They exhibited them in the ring during lunch. Sure enough, there was some interested created in a couple of them. So, maybe one or two these horses will have new homes soon.

The english pleasure champion was an adopted thoroughbred. He is the perfect example of why we do this. It would have been a true waste for this horse to have ended his life in Canada or Mexico.

One bonus of the day was meeting Chris McCarron. Yes the former Derby winner jockey. He and his wife are on the advisory board of the Kentucky Equine Humane Center. He came to the show as a guest judge. Very nice!!!

In one of the walk trot classes, a little girl about 9 years old was showing. It was windy and the horse got a little spooked at one end of the ring. Off runs Chris McCarron to lend a hand. He calmed the horse and the little girl down and they finished the class with no further incident. I wonder if the little girl knew who was helping her???

Anyway, once again the FOBs supported a very deserving organization that has the horses welfare at heart. Thanks again!!!!

Please go to Alex Brown's website for more detail on how to donate to the cause. Here is the link for it: [2]

MUSICIANS RELEASE SONG TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR THE AHSPA AND TO BENEFIT THE RESCUE AND REHABILITATION OF THOROUGHBREDS

Milwaukee , WI-- WAMI award winning vocalist Ronnie Nyles and WAMI Nominee songwriter/producer, Debra Lopez release Racing For Time in quest of raising public awareness for the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act.

Racing For Time, tells the sad story of a racehorse who loses his best friend to slaughter only because he couldn't run fast enough to win races. He quickly realized with fear that he also may be running for his life.

Each year hundreds of thousands of young, healthy American horses are slaughtered and their meat is sent overseas for human consumption when they are no longer considered useful.

Although the last three remaining horse slaughter facilities in the U.S. have recently been shut down, American horses continue to be transported across our borders to Mexico and Canada for slaughter.

The American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act is designed to end the slaughter of horses for human consumption and the domestic and international transport of live horses or horseflesh for human consumption. For more information on this subject, go to americansagainsthorseslaughter.com

Racing For Time is available via download at [5]Racing For Time and [6]Animal Fairy Charities with all proceeds being donated to the rescue and rehabilitation of thoroughbred horses.

Last year Animal Fairy Charities hosted the first annual Musical Horse Aid in Wisconsin featuring live entertainment and guest speakers from national organizations including spokespersons from the Human Society of The United States, Habitat For Horses, The National Horse Defense Fund and others.

Animal Fairy Charities, Inc, is a non profit 501c3 focusing on fostering national & international prevention of cruelty to all animals and aiding in their safety & welfare.
