This is a private rescue that was founded out of a pure love for horses and a firm belief that no life should be forgotten.
Forgotten Treasures Equine Rescue was started in November 2007. I used to foster for a local rescue and knew I just had to do more.
We are dedicated to supporting and defending ALL abused, neglected, unwanted, or abandoned horses of all breeds.
POLICY ON EUTHANASIA

I will personally be present to comfort the animal as it passes over the Rainbow Bridge.
NO animal will be euthanized for financial reasons, lack of space, or age.
A licensed vet will be the only person authorized to humanely euthanize any horse in my care.

URGT: Preg. STDB & Belgian Help 1/19 http://forums.prospero.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=AlexBrown&msg=18859.1- My very first rescue effort, with the help of many FOB's we will be getting these two horses into wonderful homes where they will be safe. Please go to the link and ready their story. Through the adoption agreement of Forgotten Treasures Equine Rescue the Belgium mare has found a good home with Rebecca who lives in PA. The STBD mare "Nan's Midnight Run" is going to a wonderful foster home for the Standardbred Foundation in NJ. Thank you to Barb for all your help to get this girl a home, and a big thanks to Rebecca for not only helping with this rescue but giving the Belgium mare her new forever home.
4/16/08 Belle, the belgium mare, did not work out for Rebecca and we needed to find her a new home. Thanks to Elena of Summerwinds Stables who put me in contact with Karen of Whimsecal Equine Rescue and we were able to find her a perfect match. She was picked up earlier this month and is currently enjoying her new home very much. I have a few pics of her taken this past weekend, you can still see that she needs quite a bit of weight for her build but her new owner(Chris)trully loves her. She deserves to be loved and well taken care of and I know she will get that with Chris. Thanks to Karen of Whimsecal Equine Rescue for all she did in helping Chris to find Belle.

Looking good Belle!!!!!
HORSES CARED FOR BY FORGOTTEN TREASURES EQUINE RESCUE
MY THREE AMIGOS.......
MOONIE
ADOPTED
Moonie is a sorrel overo paint colt with a very friendly attitude. He loves any kind of attention especially being loved on. He is learning to respectfully walk on a lead and will continue to be handled on a daily basis. He will not be gelded til spring per the advice of our vet. He is current on all vaccines, feet trimmings and wormings. He would make someone a very nice show pony and will definately get you noticed in the show ring.
1/3/08
Moonie: He is such a sweetheart and loves treats and attention. Auntie Chris loves to spoil him when she visits and if you look real close you can see she is getting ready to place the New Years hat on his head, which he did not mind at all....he is such a patient and trusting baby. He is growing up to be a really nice boy.
2/8/08 Moonie is growing like a weed and we are just waiting for him to physically mature enough to have his gelding surgery done. I am hoping that will be early this spring. He is always the first one to meet you at the fence when it is time for dinner and is always such a good boy walking into the barn. I can't wait till all the winter woolies come off and we can see what an absolutely gorgeous boy he is becoming.
2/28/08
I believe Moonie is ready for his gelding, my older mare is in heat and he paces the fence trying to stay close to her. I can feel both testicles and although the one in question is not as descended as the other it is close enough to the surface that the surgery should not be that bad. I will call the vet to schedule his procedure sometime early spring when the weather breaks. I can't wait to start some ground work training with him this year. He is so willing to learn new things. Once his ground work is done I don't think he will have any trouble finding a great forever home.
3/18/08
Moonie is schedule to be gelded on the 28th of this month, he is becoming quite a little man. I can't wait til he is completely healed and I can start some groundwork training with him. Vet called and cancelled due to an emergency. We will wait for vet to call me back to reschedule.
4/9/08 Let's try this again, Moonie is rescheduled to be gelded on 4/15/08. Fingers crossed the vet does not cancel again, Moonie is becoming a real ladies man and getting "spring fever" thank goodness for electric fence...lol...
4/16/08
We now have a gelding, and although Moonie does not like me very much right now he will be a much better horse in the end. He did so well during and after the procedure. He hardly has any drainage or swelling at all, but that may change over the next few days I'm sure. I will be keeping a close eye on him to make sure everything heals well. I stayed up with him till 1:30am this morning before I felt comfortable enough to go to bed. I will get some new pics after he is feeling better.
5/9/08 UPDATED PICS...
6/1/08 Vaccines, feet and wormings all current, Moonie is ready for his new forever home, he is looking for that special someone to start him the right way with a gentle hand and experience in breaking young horses. Here are some new pics of Moonie :
7/31/08
Updated pics of Moonie just enjoying his summer. He is getting such an nice build to him and really loves all the attention.
10/27/08
Moonie getting loving and carrots at our open house..
1/5/09
Happy New Year from Moonie... he is doing very well, he has learned to wear a blanket very well and does not mind the belly straps at all, which makes me believe he will not mind a cinch once he is saddled this spring. He is so easy going and laid back that he could have cared less that we were putting a blanket on his back. I just love the amount of trust he has in people and I think that will make him an awesome mount for one lucky person.
3/2/09
Moonie always has his head in the feeder....
5/7/09
Moonie is currently doing some ground work training while he is awaiting a new home...

6/29/09
For all the Moonie lovers and FTER fans.... Moonie left for his new home and to start a new adventure on Saturday... and although I was able to keep it together until he pulled away the sadness did not hit until later that night when I was feeding and he was not there with his nicker and a nuzzle to thank me for his dinner. I will miss him more than I can say but I know in my heart he is where he was meant to be and will get the best of everything. His new owner called me after they made it home and he is settling into his new surroundings great. Here are some pics of my day on Saturday....
SEARA
http://forums.prospero.com/alexbrown/messages/?msg=14759.1
Seara is a gorgeous black 10yr.old OTTB mare who was raced and then was used as a broodmare for the past 5 years. She is enjoying just being a horse for now.
Available now for adoption. Adoption fee is $500, references and contract needed..
1/3/08
Seara: She has picked up quite a bit of weight and is enjoying just being a horse for now. Linda the chiropractor did absolute wonders for her back leg and hip pain. She is walking so much better and man can she run, to watch her in the field is just a beautiful sight.
2/8/08
Seara is doing well and is a completely different horse since having her chiropractic treatments. Her back and hip problems have been resolved and she is walking completely flat and normal once again. We are hoping to get a trainer out to see her very soon so she can begin the next journey in her life and become a great riding horse. She has come such a long way and I believe she is going to make someone a really nice horse someday.
2/19/08 ****UPDATE****
Seara has picked up a good amount of weight and is just the most gorgeous black horse I have ever seen(of course I am not partial)..lol... It is time for the next step in her journey in life and I have decided to send her to a very reputable trainer in MD for some much needed refresher courses. The trainer was out to see her over the weekend and says she has excellent conformation and she thinks she will make a very nice hunter jumper prospect. We are anticipating her to be in her first show come May if everything goes well. Wish Seara luck that she can shine like I know she will in the show ring. I am so looking forward to seeing her in her first show and writing a article to tell everyone how another rescued horse turned into something wonderful. The trainer is donating her time and expertise but FTER will be responsible for her board and shoes which will be $180 mo., any donation towards these expenses would be greatly appreciated and they always are. Thank you to Aleta who through your efforts saved our Seara girl and gave her this chance. And thank you to her supporters for helping me at Forgotten Treasures Equine Rescue to afford her chiropractic treatments and daily care to bring her this far on her journey. I will keep everyone posted with updates on my wiki and website so you all will know her progress as she goes.
2/28/08
The trainer had something come up and won't be picking Seara up until March 8th. That's ok cause it will give me another week to spoil and love on her before she goes for her training. I will keep everyone posted once she gets to the trainers on her progress and when her first show is...
3/18/08 Seara will come back from the trainer tonight, unfortunately she was evaluated and it was determined that she is not able to handle the daily regimen of a horse in training for hunter/jumper shows. She has become very sore on her back right leg. We are having a equine chiropractor come to give her opinion of how we can get her painfree. I will continue to work with her myself and will adopt her out as a pleasure riding horse. She has come such a long way and I only have her best interest at heart.
Seara will be going through Equine Chiropractic treatment to relieve the discomfort in her back right hip. Please watch for updates as he treatments are done. I know we can get her comfortable again so she can become a nice pleasure riding horse.
Update: 4/9/08
Seara had another treatment last night. She is getting so much softer on that right hind end, before her muscles were so stiff and hard that when we tried to touch them or pick up that foot we almost got kicked. Seara was so relaxed by the time Linda was done I hated to make her move and put her out to pasture....lol.... silly girl, went right out and rolled, and rolled and rolled. Linda says it is because she feels so much more comfortable. One more treatment and then we can start some lunging and balance groundwork with her so this kind of injury has less chance of happening again. Once all her treatments are done and the initial groundwork is started Seara will be ready for her new forever home. If anyone knows someone interested in this very special horse please send me a private e-mail.
Thanks again to everyone who has made this possible. More updates as they become available.
5/9/08 UPDATED PICS
SEARA IS FEELING SO MUCH BETTER..... THANK YOU FOB'S

7/31/08
Updated pics of Seara. "Thanks Fob's for making me feel all better again"
8/11/08
I am very happy to announce that I was able to ride Seara yesterday. I have been waiting for almost a year now to be able for us to take our first ride together and it finally happenend. It was such a great feeling to finally make that special connection with her yesterday. She has the most awesome smooth trot and is very responsive to whatever asked of her. Although I would not recommend a beginner rider she is a very nice mount. I will continue to work with her and start taking her on trail rides around the farm to get her used to different sites and sounds.
10/27/08
Seara enjoying all the company and attention... She has such a sweet personality...
1/5/09
Seara wishes everyone a great start to 2009. She has been enjoying the few days of decent weather and sunshine when she can lay down and nap for awhile. I have been doing some light riding on her around the woods and fenceline and she really seems to enjoy it. I will continue to ride her and get her back in shape in hopes that someone will come along and give her a chance to be their next trail riding horse and best friend.
3/2/09
When will spring ever be here?????
5/7/09
Seara is doing great on her joint supplement. I can definately see a big improvement. I can't wait for the weather to clear up so we can go for a ride..

MARIAH
2/9/08
Mariah was transferred from NLER to Forgotten Treasures Equine Rescue. She is doing well and getting used to her new surroundings. She has made friends quickly with my gelding "Zi" and the two of them seem to act as if they know each other. They hollar for each other when seperated, and although she has only been with me for a few days they have a special connection.
Please look forward to pics in a day or two of her upon arrival. I look forward to continueing NLER's quest to put weight on her and find her a new forever home. She has an appt. scheduled on Wednesday night 2/13/08 to have her teeth floated and later this week for her feet to be trimmed. She really is a sweet horse and I look forward to taking care of her and watching her improve.
2/14/08
Just wanted to give a quick update on Mariah. She had her teeth floated last night and did wonderful. The equine dentist believes her to be closer to 30years old than a late teen girl. He said she still has plenty of chewing power in the back but the front looked pretty worn down. He took off the sharp points and made her comfortable again and we will see if she can eat better now. I will continue to soak her food and pamper her as long as she needs, she really enjoys soaked alfalfa cubes, equine senior and calf manna for breakfast and dinner. She has made many friends in the short time she has been at Forgotten Treasures but her two favorites are my gelding Zi and a gray rescued kitten named Nikki......Her and Nikki share kisses through the gate all the time. Please look for pics and updates on her soon on my wiki and webpage.
Thank you Cathy for allowing Forgotten Treasures to help such a wonderful, loving horse.
2/19/08 Mariah had her feet trimmed tonight and they were absolutely horrible. She has not 1 but 2 hoof abcesses. One in the front right and one in the back left. The one in the front is so deep that the farrier could not even get it opened up all the way, if she becomes lame I will be calling the vet out. The farrier thinks it may drain on its own. The one in the back was found underneath what is called a false wall, which comes from the overgrowth of the foot when it is not trimmed for a long time. The farrier removed the (false wall) and underneath it I have not smelled something so awful in all my life, it was a black as tar. He removed what he could and found plenty of thrush and the abcess hidden there. He is coming back again in 1 week to make sure there is no canker starting. He said that in cases like this he sees canker under these (false soles). I am going to be heart broken if this horse has canker after we have gotten so attached in such a short period of time. I will keep everyone informed of her progress as we see what happens. Please say a prayer that there is no canker found and she heals quickly from the abcesses. I will be watching her closely.
2/28/08 We had the blacksmith out again last night to recheck Mariah's back left foot, she does NOT have Canker, thank God....He said it is a pretty bad case of thrush but no canker. He said to continue to use the Hooflex Thrush Rememdy as it looks like it is helping tremedously. He cleaned out most of the thrush around the frog and cut away as much as he could on the sole without making her too sore. Her abcesses are also coming along very well... Thank you to everyone for saying a prayer for her, they obviously worked. Mariah was also wormed with Zimecterin Gold per the vet to make sure she is free of internal parasites. After 2 weeks and a change in her diet she has picked up a noticeable amount of weight. Mariah is truly a sweet horse and I can't wait to see what she will look like when she finally sheds out.
3/18/08 Mariah is really such a lovebug, as soon as she hears the door open she is whinning to me. She truely is a sweet old girl. I am hoping to be able to do some light riding this summer with her and take her for short trail rides. Her feet are doing well, the old abcesses are growing out and I am hoping in the next few months they can be trimmed off the hoof completely.
4/11/08
Mariah will have another barefoot trim this weekend and we are hoping we can remove all the old abcess holes in the feet. She has remained sound through all the abcesses and she has no other issues that I have come across. She gets along very well with other horses and especially loves the gentlemen... She has gained quite a bit of weight and is ready for her new forever home.

ANGEL
ADOPTED
http://forums.prospero.com/alexbrown/messages?msg=21851.1
Angel came from a family in Lancaster, PA who was trying to sell her or would have sent her to New Holland auction on 4/14/08. With the help of the FOB's on the ABR board FTER was able to purchase Angel(for 1/2 her asking price) and save her from being sent to auction. We made the 2 hr. trip on Saturday afternoon 4/12/08 and picked her up. She loaded and trailered like a pro. She is such a sweetheart and willing to follow you anywhere. Angel loves to lick your hand and is always looking for something to eat... know wonder she is such a little butterball. She will get lots of loving and pampering here at FTER. I have 2 families already interested in adopting Angel after she has completed her 3 week quarantine. She will need her spring vaccines as she was due in March. If anyone is interested in being an angel for Angel or any of the other horses here at FTER please paypal to kdonohue672@aol.com or snailmail: Kathleen Donohue/FTER 672 Hickory Road Littlestown,PA 17340.
I will keep everyone updated on Angel's progress while she is here and even after she has found her forever home.
UPDATE: 4/28/08
I wanted to share the story of Angel with everyone. She was saved with the help of the wonderful people of this board a few weeks ago. She was quarantined for 2 weeks and I had so many come foward who wanted to adopt her. I think we found the perfect home and match for this cutie pie....
She was adopted by my sister and her family who own a 25 acre farm in MD. I wanted to share the photos of her from this past weekend when we delivered her to her new home. My neice has wanted a pony of her own for over a year now. I did not even think my sister was interested in getting her a pony until I told her the story of Angel and how she would have ended up at the NH auction.
It brought tears to my eyes when I saw this little girl running as fast as she could run towards Angel with such excitement in her eyes.... she loves her so much already and I know this is the perfect match made on earth... Please enjoy the photos and thank you again to all who helped make this little girls dream come true....
7/31/08
Angel loves her new family and is pampered and spoiled by her best friend Madison.
10/27/08
Even Angel made a special appearance at our open house for everyone to see what a wonderful pony she is...
5/7/09
Angel is doing good and I will be getting some pics of her this weekend when I visit for everyone to see.... she is pampered and brushed daily by her favorite girl, Madison.....

CALYPSO(Cali)
ADOPTED
http://forums.prospero.com/alexbrown/messages?msg=27066.2
Please read "Cali's" thread for a complete story of how she was acquired by FTER. I was there when she arrived at her foster mom's farm and was just in awe as to why someone would not want this beautiful horse. She is very sore on all four feet but I honestly believe in time she will come sound again. Here are some pics of her upon arrival. This is one lucky girl who won't be headed back to New Holland Auction. If anyone would like to be an angel for Cali please let me know,kdonohue672@aol.com.
Cali is completely sound and ready for her new home. Adoption fee is $500. References and contract required.
9/15/08
Cali is just getting over a hoof abcess in the right front and is scheduled to get her feet trimmed on Thursday of this week, she had her teeth floated last week and everything went ok with that, she did have some sharp points in the back but nothing too terrible. Her foster mom just can't say enough sweet things about her, I will be visiting her again this weekend and will get some new photos to post.
9/22/08
This past weekend Cali had her feet trimmed. We wanted a second opinion on her left front foot where she was diagnosed with laminitus with a very slight rotation in that foot, so we had a natural barefoot farrier come in and take a look. We also wanted to see if she could determine why she was so sore on those front feet when she came from the boarding facility since that was never determined. The barefoot farrier found abcesses in both front feet, both were fairly large and were opened for draining. The right front foot had been drained and taken care of a week or so ago by her foster mom but we had no idea about the one on the left. The farrier saw no rotation at all on the left front, which is excellent news, and said that once the abcesses heal she be sound again. They just love her at the foster home, they say she is very easy to work with and be around.
10/27/08
Cali comes home to FTER..... We brought her home from the foster about a week ago, she is such a dream to be around. She is sound and happy, and her foster mom did a wonderful job with her. Here are some new pics of her at FTER
11/17/08
Cali was ridden and evaluated over the weekend, she will be best suited for an advanced beginner/intermediate rider. She is responsive to the bit and a very easy going girl. She walked and trotted off beautifully, we could not canter as it was way too muddy and we did not want her to slip. Pics below of her taking her first ride at FTER. Please contact me if you are interested in adopting her.
1/5/09
Cali is being worked a few times a week to get back into shape. She has a wonderful personality and great looks to go with it..She is doing wonderful and is "nicely put together". She is going to make someone a beautiful show or pleasure horse.
3/2/09
Looking good Cali girl!!!!!
5/7/09
Cali is just as beautiful as ever and is waiting for some nice sunny weather to get here...
6/1/09 CALI HAS BEEN ADOPTED....... I AM SO HAPPY SHE WILL BE GOING TO HER NEW HOME THIS EVENING.... I WILL POST PICS OF HER WITH HER NEW FAMILY SOON. THEY FELL IN LOVE WITH HER AS SOON AS THEY MET HER... A HAPPY ENDING FOR A WONDERFUL HORSE..
