Flint's Story

I didn't really know Allie from CANTER Midatlantic but when she posted she needed places for horses to go that had been in a bad boarding situation I was happy to help. I had two stalls open. Flint Hills and General Forrest arrived quickly. Flint was in bad shape and very thin. I spent the first month just feeding them and slowly lunging him until he began to get some condition to him. Once I began to ride him I realized just how cool this horse was. Despite his lack of muscle he was everything an event rider is looking for. Nice mover, uphill build, brave, athletic and the desire to please. I took my time building up his muscles with lots of trot work, trails rides and low jumps. He went on the market at the end of his second month of training. He was tried by somebody but he didn't pass the vet due to weak stifles. I knew it wasn't an issue but I understood them passing on him. I kept convincing my mom she really needed to come and ride him. She had a series of horses that just weren't right for her and this guy was honest as could be. She didn't want another cribber so she held off. Finally, I wore her down and when she came to try him she loved him (of course i knew she would :)) She took him home and a month later she was eventing him Baby Novice. She adores him and he is just a lovely horse.
