Bio
I live with my husband and four cats in Richmond, Virginia, which is where I grew up. After 20 years in business, primarily banking, I decided to make a career change. After earning a MSW and MA in Christian Education I now work as a therapist. I am also very active in my Church.
Horse experience
In my early 20s I had a friend who had a horse named Phyllis. Having never been around horses much I found Phyllis to be very large and intimidating. One winter afternoon I decided to take some photographs of Phyllis and another horse who shared a pasture with her, figuring I could maintain a safe distance. During the course of the day we wandered a good way from the house, and it became increasingly bitter cold. When I could barely bend my fingers I noticed the house with its inviting cloud of smoke wafting from the chimney was at least a 15 minute walk from where I stood. Then I saw Phyllis, steam coming from her nostrils indicating that warmth was but a few steps away. I soon found myself standing with my arms around Phyllis' neck as she casually grazed on the sparse winter grass, gratitude for the warmth quickly replacing my former fear.
Around the same time I had the opportunity to go to the race track a bit, and also took riding lessons for about a year. Gradually, this involvement with horses decreased due to changes in finances, social circles and other interests. Then Barbaro captured my heart, as he did with so many others, rekindling my former interest in horses.
FOB activities
I've been privileged to support the New Bolton Center and to contribute to a few other FOB activities. I've also contacted my representative about the Anti-Slaughter bill, and hope to become more involved as time permits.
FOB Network
I participate in Chat whenever I can, at least several times a month and always enjoy the company I find there. I have the opportunity to meet a couple of the folks from Chat and look forward to growing these friendships and making new acquaintences.
