Bio

I am a Hackney Horse breeder and have taken over my families breeding farm from my mother Alexa King who is the artist that was commissioned to create the Barbaro statue at Churchill Downs. I currently have 9 Hackney Horses at my farm in Midway, Kentucky. We stand our stallion GTF Maker's Mark who is KWPN liscensed in Holland for the Harness Horse stud book. He is the only stallion to achieve this status in North America for this stud book. I raise a few foals and hope to grow my little breeding farm as my breed is listed on the endangered list of horse breeds. They are my passion and the driving force in my life!!

I manage the retail location for Freedman Harness in Midway, KY (www.freedmanharness.com) which involves a lot of different things from managing the store to travelling to horse shows around the country. I love my career as its a new day every day and always a challenge. Makes for an interesting life.

i have had horses my entire life growing up on my families Good Thunder Farms. We have raised Hackney Horses since the early 1970's and also raised Half Hackney Half Arabians with much success until 2001 when we decided to breed purebred Hackney Horses only. I grew up with about 45 horses to play with, mares and babies, stallions and our training horses. My personal riding horse was an Arabian mare named Private Dancer, she was a thrill to ride. I now have my Hackneys on a small farm in Kentucky and manage our stallion GTF Maker's Mark. I love to go riding when I have some spare time but really just like to spend time with my horses, even cleaning stalls isn't a chore to me, gives me time to think in the mornings.

My involvement with FOB has been limited but very rewarding so far. My mother Alexa King who created the Barbaro bronze for Churchill Downs this year had the opportunity to meet many FOB's during the unveilling ceremony. It was wonderful to meet so many people that have done so much for horses in need. Its truly a great thing and everyone involved should be so proud of the work being done!!
