Barbaro Updates: 792
updates are now here.
Update 4565: For me the most impressive performance of last weekend was that of Rachel Alexandra. The following is a Q and A with her trainer: Q & A With Rachel Alexandra Trainer Hal Wiggins.
Update 4564: Seven sets for me this morning at Oaklawn Park. Five before the break and two after the break. Three went to the gate for a little gate schooling. All did well, and all galloped nicely. Much chillier here this morning, but bright sunshine for sure.
We have a third entry in our YouTube Horse Slaughter Contest. Technical difficulties at my end and I have not seen it yet, but by all accounts it's another terrific entry: Another Chance: Saved from Horse Slaughter. Here is one of the comments posted:
I LOVE IT!! Excellent video, that shows one venue for horses that could have ended up being slaughtered - instead they were given a chance of a new life, and help serve the community. You can tell the police officers in this video really love their new partners - very cool commentary from the officers. Hope they can get the funds needed for their new barn & arena and to be able to give new homes and jobs to more recued horses!!
Update 4563: Gulfstream Park hosts an allowance race today (race 8) that may produce a couple of horses that will be considered for the Triple Crown: Future Is Now for Gulf Allowance Runners.
We now have our second entry in our $1,000 YouTube Horse Slaughter Contest. It is beautiful, simple and poignant. A video that anyone can watch, and should watch.
Enjoy: Please Stop Horse Slaughter.
There are several weeks to go for entries to be produced, so please consider entering the contest and helping to spread the message. And helping a rescue organization!
And please keep calling.
Hiya, FsOB! I'll look forward to reading the blue-link about Gulfstream this evening. Wishing each of you a safe & productive day!
Can I be first today? Let's see.... Hello to the "early AM" shift (Liz in the UK, Marg in Maine, & Janice in FLA).
#### To Liz in the UK: I promise to get back to you this evening. If your daughter is in the States (NYC, NY) on Kentucky Derby Day, I'd love for her to head up to CT on the Amtrak to join our party this year.
To Kathy in SC: I loved reading about your animals earlier this week. As far as I am concerned, all of the FsOB are equally "big" (even those of us who are 5'-1", ha! Ha!). So please don't say that you are "less than" any of us, OK? Barbaro obviously picked us/touched us all, didn't he?
To Janice & Donna: I hope that Maia is experiencing some improvement as this week progresses.
To Sandra: I, too, have been hoping to read a post from Maribel with an update about Hans.
To Margie in NM: Always a treat to read good news! How awesome that Hocks now has a home!
To Kathy B: Please let Jonna know that she is missed here! ####
