Barbaro Updates: 146

updates are now here.

Update 1123: It was nice to watch the winners' circle celebrations for Russell Baze on HRTV (not sure what they thought of Russell's headware). Both Greg Gilchrist and Harry Aleo were present for the celebrations. It just seems that everyone thinks very highly of Russell, a good person and a family person. As Tom Chapman put it "9531 and counting". Very cool.

Update 1122: Congratulations to Russell Baze, winning the fourth at Bay Meadows with an inspired "wait and wait and up the rail" ride on Butterfly Belle.

Update 1121: Russell Baze is currently 0 for 2 on the day, to break Pincay's record he needs one win. Follow Russell's progress here.

Barbaro is getting coverage in Jamaica. I also think this article was in a China paper. If anyone has the link, please post in the comments.

Update 1120: I just called Mrs. Jackson and Barbaro had another comfortable night (thursday night).

This morning was a little dreary (but warm), but it does seem the rain is now really starting to move in. Tim has a runner this afternoon at Laurel (Gatornation) so hopefully the weather is not too aweful. I rode a couple of horses on the new synthetic track this morning (Tapeta). It just simply feels good underneath you, and it is very consistent. It seems everyone's feedback remains positive, although a few have decided to wait to provide a more concrete verdict when we get some cold weather. Anyway, so far so good for sure. Michael Dickinson was again at Fair Hill to observe and get direct feedback.

Yesterday I mentioned that horsehats had a new Barbaro hat (update 1115): Barbaro Fund Hat. I noted the hats were limited edition, here is more detail (comment from superfecta 2:56pm):

In case you were wondering about the Barbaro hats, they are making 400 and we've already reserved 50 of them here at work, so ordering sooner rather than later is the way forward.

Keep up the good work!

Update 1119: The Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Vase, to be run next sunday, December 10, is the final big global race we will follow. Among the runners are the globe trotting Ouija Board, third most recently in Japan, and (also the globe trotting) Collier Hill, who most recently won the Canadian International under regular jockey Dean McKeown. Ouija Board arrived in Hong Kong shortly after her third place in the Japan Cup, Collier Hill arrived this morning. I called Dean McKeown to catch up quickly on Collier Hill. He said he has been training well. Dean will actually arrive in Hong Kong on tuesday to help with the final preparations of Collier Hill, and assuming I can connect to his cell phone, will provide us some updates. Dean did mention that these two met in Dubai early in the year. Collier Hill beat Ouija Board in that race. Dean noted that Fallon came in for some criticism for his ride (Fallon won the Hong Kong Vase on Ouija Board last year) but Dean thought it was more to do with it being very early in the year for Ouija Board. Clearly we are now at the end of the season, and of the two, Collier Hill will be the fresher. It should be a great race. More information and updates on the race to follow.

I caught up with Barclay Tagg. Both Showing Up and NoBiz are now relaxing in Florida after their tremendous weekend exploits. They won't be running for a little while so will be kept ticking over under light exercise. Stormy Kiss, Jackson's runner tomorrow is ready, and as I called was being visited by the acupuncture lady.

No Barbaro update yet, but will endevour to get one later.

Update 1118: Russell Baze tied Laffitt Pincay's record yesterday: Baze Ties Pincay's All-Time Win Record! and here is the card for today. He has seven mounts including some favourites.

Fair Hill has Xchanger in today in a million dollar race: Officer Rocket, Xchanger to meet in $1-million Delta Jackpot.

It seems a bit dreary out this morning (although warm). I am guessing the weather will mean riding on the new Tapeta surface! The Barbaro update will be later this morning.

Cheryl, great job on video. We have got to work hard to save these horses from slaughter. I'm so tired of foreign own company coming here and taking what is ours. Greed that is all it is. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr On a lighter note Barbaro have a wonderful day sweetie. I hope you can get out today. Grow Hoof Grow. Have a wonderful day ---- Marilyn/ohio

Alex-

Your decision is understandable... thanks for all the time and energy you've spent keeping us informed about Barbaro, who we all care so much about.

Apologies for the actions of a few
(you know who you are) who have spoiled this for everyone else and I hope you enjoy the peace of mind and freedom that not having to monitor the comments and forum areas (like a kindergarden teacher) will bring.

Please know that the vast majority of people who come to this site do appreciate and respect all of your efforts.

Cheers -
Christian

Morning FOB's
I appreciate having this website to keep informed. I laugh at the acronyms that have developed from this website, FOB, ACN, NBC. I now use GHG (grow hoof grow)

Wishing lot of comfy nights for sweet boy and lots of hoof growth.

Thanks to all

NANCY, we love him and want to kiss his nose because he represents every good value there is in life with none of the bad mixed in, as we've all had to learn to tolerate in others.

Add the fact of his achievements, his purpose in his life - to WIN, his innocence in doing exactly what he was meant to do, and his exquisite appearance...

Peace to everyone.

Good Friday morning Alex, Bobby and fellow fans

congratulations to Russell Baze!!

Martita,
Your wonderful posts are always uplifting to read and I have enjoyed every single line of every single one.

But today the uplift won't last too long as I realize there is a clock ticking right now that is counting the time to shutdown. I think of that with a heavy heart. There are so many people I have grown to love and admire and appreciate.

However, the most pressing issue is the shutdown of the slaughterhouses and I will continue the fight anywhere for as long as it takes to get the job done. I've already left messages for the Senators and then after work will call them all again and speak to the aides. It's is a daily ritual.

TGIF - everyone. Have a great one.

Good morning, our ray of sunshine, Mr. Barbaro

We are always happy to hear nothing but good reports and your strong will...YOU WILL ALWAYS BE A WINNER!!!!

We graciously thank Mr. and Mrs. Jackson for their big hearts...

We thank Dr. R, NBC, Alex, Tim and Numerous Others...

I thought about this last night...I was so restless.

Today is December 1st...TWO WEEKS...For us to make a DIFFERENCE!!!!

On the thread it mention the slaughterhouses are killing 3,000 horses a week, that is 12,000 or more a month...

You know if they have speed up the process those horses are been brutal..I MEAN BRUTAL...probably not even stunned before they face slaying...

FOLKS...This is a wake up call...WE HAVE TO DO THIS...

Please call, fax, email, whatever it takes...

I called Texas to Sen. Hutchinson's office yesterday, and they said they WERE NOT getting many calls.

FANS OF BARBARO...WE ARE HERE BECAUSE OF HIM...

WE ARE HERE TO SAVE HORSES...THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS...PASS THIS BILL, TODAY!!!!!

Whatever comes your way, turn the other cheek and focus on that 12,000 horses who has already lost their lives...

WE NEED EVERYONE OF YOU...WE ARE IN THIS TO THE FINISH...

God Bless!!!!

Martita, I came to look for your words this morning. I was not disappointed. You are so right. We have lost, we all know that, but we have gained so much as well. We must make a promise to use this knowledge well. If we have a second chance somewhere else then we must not look back, rather ahead, and focus on our champion heart, Barbaro, and the battle he faces daily. We must use our knowledge and not give up the battle to right the wrongs of horse slaughter. We owe it to Barbaro.

Good morning dear Barbaro. The weather is changing here and soon will be heading your way. I hope you get to graze a little or at least enjoy your Lael grass and the company of your wonderful owners. Stand straight, stay balanced and do your PT. Obey the Doc's orders and grow hoof grow. Butterfly kisses big fella.

Alex, I am sorry it is a gloomy day at Fair Hill. Reminds me of the words of Shakespeare, "The sun for sorrow will not show its head." We are all a bit gloomy today sorry to say.

With all the rain coming, thank goodness for the new tapeta track.

Phone, fax and email. Monday is only a weekend away.

Good Morning Big Guy! Will miss sending u a morning greeting on this site but I'm sure u will know that so much love is coming ur way and prayers for your continued healing . I hope you get out before the storm arrives. They say it is going to be a wopper. Are you enjoying your new stall? My guess there will be more room to spend your day. I'm sure you will have a visit from Mrs. Jackson with your fresh picked grass. Many hugs and smooches on your beautiful nose and many healing happy days ahead Big Guy.

Alex, I am not as good with words as some of the other posters, but know how much I appreciate all you have done for the Barbaro fans and for horse fans all over. It surely has been a great deal of work and I apologize for my post late last night that was not appropriate in that it became meanspirited toward Renee. I'm sure it is these kind of postings that have been quite frustrating and discouraging to you. But I hope you know there are so many people who appreciate the updates on our favorite and beloved horse.

Thank you to all of Barbaro's care givers in the Medical sense at Bolton Center especially Dr. R.

A huge thank you to the Jacksons. What love and care you have given this beautiful champion and most of all the chance to live and to heal. I'm sure you continue to grow in admiration of this magnificant horse and to admire and love .
him even more than any of us ever could

Thank you to Barbaro's special buddies Michael, Peter and Edgar. Edgar you surely saved Barbaro's life on the track that day and Michael your love for our forever Champ is so evident and your class through all of this has been nothing but admirable. Peter your care, brushing, changing bandages, visits, time, etc. are I'm sure one of the things that has made Barbaro,s days better.

There is such a warm and loving community that has gathered to support Barbaro and all the horses that need care.

Let's make sure that we keep those phones ringing in Washington all day,on Monday, endlessly, to support S.1915. Together we DO make a difference.

Good Morning Family
I'm reposting. Don't forget our collaboration with Eddie Kilroy for Willie's Place/Fans Of Barbaro Call In Day on Monday.

HOT FLASH....OOPPPSSS I MEAN NEWS FLASH.... LOL
I've exchanged emails with Eddie Kilroy about a collaborative effort scheduled for Monday 12/4, the day the Senators return. I've asked him to rally his pro S1915 listeners over the next few days and we'll have our own Nat'l Call In Day. Of course, for us every day is a call in day but if we can increase the numbers Monday it will remind the Senators that we have not forgotten the mission. The strategy remains the same unless otherwise directed by Shelley & Debra. I told Eddie I would provide names & numbers of our targeted Senators. SO PLEASE TREAT MONDAY AS A DAY TO CALL IN DEBTS, BEG, PLEAD, TRADE FAVORS, whatever it takes so we can tally some really big numbers.
Thanks for your help.

Lord God, wrap S1915 in Divine Love and Divine Order. Open the heart of every member of the Senate to clearly hear the voice of the horse, and feel the Magnificent Spirit of the horse. Compel each member to immediately move S1915 to the floor in a right and perfect way, and then vote with their hearts and their conscience for the highest good of all. Thank you God for Your mighty Presence in the passing of S1915.

First to Renee,
You have been one of the worst offenders on this site and have single handedly provoked the unacceptable chatter on this site. And the worst part of this is you just don't get it. You need some MAJOR help because "being yourself" just doesn't cut it with most people. I have refrained from making any derogatory comments against any individuals on the site because I was so offended myself by your comment when I first posted on the site. I'm sure you will find my comments offensive but I will not have knowledge of your response since this is the last time I will be posting on this site. You have been a slap in Alex's face throughout this all especially over the past few weeks. You have destroyed the vision he had for this site and has worked so hard to maintain. One might say that by expressing my feelings here I am no better than you and your offensive writings however it is something I felt I must do and needed to be expressed under the circumstances

##################
Phyllis,
This is disgusting and very hurtful. Take a good look at yourself.Attacking people is a bad characteristic, are you proud of yourself? I never used any foul language or posted something I was afraid to have people see,I had fun with others here. If I did I was wrong. Others have posted worse than me...but who cares! We work hard, and have fun, due to some stuffed shirts we can't do that. I love Barbaro with all my heat,I am sick and tired of being targated by mean spirited heartless troublemaking individuals, who only come on to start trouble, like this. If I had caused trouble Alex would have removed me from the board like he did others. I will not participate or stoop to the low level some come from here. This is what causes trouble anywhere, it makes people defensive and arguments break out. I know where the trouble is coming from. Shame on all of you.I have meet some very special people here an will continue to talk with them. I really don't know if I am able to forgive you, you have me in tears and have hurt me deeply.

Here is my challenge to the FOB...If I have caused trouble and offended you as certain people have stated, just say it and I will leave. I belong to another forum and have never been treated so harshly. I am myself, a person a being. I don't know how to be anyone else and don't want to be.

Good Morning Barbaro and all FOBs!

Alex, thanks again for the update and for all of the hard work you do for us. You have been a most gracious host, an extremely knowledgeable guide and an tireless source of friendship and good will to all of us. We came here seeking information and answers about Barbaro and his wonderful progress and you provided that to us - but you gave us so much more as well. We have all gained education and insight into many different facets of horses and horse racing thanks to you. The articles you provided to us, the answers you always gave us and your endless patience has changed us. We will leave here knowing more about Barbaro, horses, racing, track conditions, current and world events regarding horses and even politics because of you. You also gave us the priceless opportunity to befriend others who, like us, are completely in love with Barbaro. We came here as strangers. We talked together, learned together, prayed together, cried together and found consolation together because of you. We have joined together as one powerful group to fight for the freedom of all American horses because of your work and the passion you've inspired in all of us. Your incredible generosity is greatly appreciated and hopefully we're all better people for having had this opportunity.

Thank you Alex, for being such a wonderful friend to us all. It's been a real pleasure.

Good morning FOB, Barbaro's misstep at Pimlico may have been an accident, but bringing this group together was not. The Friends of Barbaro helped create the miracles we have seen these last months. In any community there will be those who focus on the bigger picture, and those who focus on themselves.

My wish is that these next two weeks stay focused on the bigger picture, Barbaro's journey to health, the passing of S 1915, following news in the racing industry, and finding a way we can stay connected on another board when this miraculous chapter ends.

Alex, heartfelt thanks for all you've done for Barbaro, for racing, and for the people who care. Truly, I will miss the positive postings that seemed to add something to the news. All in all, this experiment in an unmoderated board has to be called a rousing success and proof positive that the internet can be used for the common good. I wish you all the best in your good work and look forward to the day you post "Barbaro is going home."

God bless all, Susan in Saratoga

POSTED BY SHELLEY A
IMPORTANT NEWS......

As you all know, Congressman Whitfield was instrumental in getting HR503 passed in the House. I just spoke to his office and was assured that he is seeing this through and is still involved in the "negotiations" with the senate.

I was told that the list we have been given (reposted by Socorro at 8:47) is the list that we must stick to.....that they are the ONLY people, at this time, that can make this happen.

I was advised not to expand this list but to stick with it and keep calling.

There were some questions earlier about who we should be calling. I hope this addresses those concerns.

I was also assured that I would be notified if there should be any additions or changes to this strategy.

Alex, thank you so much for all you have done. You've opened a whole new world for me and I'm so sad that it has come to this. Is there a way to keep this open to items already posted but block new posts? There is so much valuable info.

To those that caused this by using this site for their personal communications with their incessant banter and inappropriate comments, I hope you're happy that you've ruined it for all of us that come here for information. Instead of blocking you from posting, Alex opened a chat room so you could chit chat and yet, you still continued to post on the main site and aggravate everyone looking for updates on important issues. That was a wonderful way to show your gratitude to Alex and the regulars to this site. As your last hurrah, an apology for getting this site shut down, would be nice.

I wish you all well and thank you for the eye opening information you've provided. I'm proud to have been a part of this phenomenal group and the good we have done. I'm thankful for the opportunity to electronically meet so many wonderful people.

If you'd like to stay in touch, please email me @ stumpstwr@earthlink.net. Ignore the message from earthlink - I'll get your message.

Thanks Alex & everyone. It's been a slice.

It would be so nice if in the two weeks left this site would be a tribute to the Jackson's and what they have done to keep Barbaro with us. They are the bottom line in all of this. They own Barbaro and they decided he would get all of the care possible. Because of them we have him too.

Vicki-I have apologized on this main board, and on three different threads of the forum. I understand that I am considered partially to blame for chit-chat. I feel horribly guilty, sick and sad. I own my role in this play. Everytime I sign on, I get to be blamed with more posts, oh not by name, mind you, but I still feel just as guilty. I still feel just as singled out, as if you or anyone else called me by name. I am sorry. I am sorry. If I could rectify this situation I would, but alas, I cannot. Alex, thanks for all your work, both as a source of information and as a host. This is the first site I check in the morning, and often the last I check at night. I haven't posted more than a few times, and don't always read all the comments (sorry, folks...one of those schedules, no disrespect intended) but it's been a great place to learn about many things, including other peoples' feelings and opinions.

I've called and written my Senators more than once, each, and will try calling them again Monday, but they're rigidly entrenched in their industry-taught views. (Guess they think I'm rigidly entrenched in my "animal-lover" views.) I don't expect either of them to budge a millimeter.

Good morning, FOBs!

So sorry to hear that the posts will be closed down. Understandable, but I’ll miss the chance to exchange ideas with all of you. Thanks to Cheryl’s reminder this morning, I printed off the HSUS flyers. I fly to Vegas for a convention tomorrow and remembered that the NFR is this week, so if even a handful of horse lovers see them and take action, it will be worth it. Ditto for the folks that visit Red Rock Canyon outside Vegas and enjoy the wild horses and burros! I’ll be posting one at the Visitor’s Center there on Sunday.

A week ago, it was “Black Friday” the BIG one for retailers, and it really got me thinking. I look around my house and see all the clothes I don’t wear, the CDs and DVDs I rarely play, the books I haven’t read. . .raise your hand if this sounds like you! Reminds me of a quote I once saw: “I buy things I don’t need with money I don’t have to impress people I don’t like!” If each of those hundreds of thousands of folks around the country who headed out for all the “deals” on stuff nobody really needs each gave a dollar, five dollars, ten dollars to a horse rescue, humane society or homeless shelter, the effect would be mind-boggling! We wouldn’t need to worry about “unwanted horses”. The generosity of folks who visit this site is just incredible, so I’m asking each of you to keep carrying on The Barbaro Effect in this season of BELIEVING and “pay it forward”.

Just a few ideas:
-For your friends and family who would appreciate it, sponsor an animal from Best Friends or your favorite shelter or donate to a horse rescue in their name. (For those who wouldn’t appreciate it, spend a few bucks less on their gift and donate the rest!!)
-Ask friends and family to do the same for YOU, instead of buying more stuff you don’t need.
-Make sure NO ONE you know buys a puppy/kitten for a Christmas gift! Instead, ask them to wait a few months and then head to their local shelter to adopt an animal that someone else got for the holiday and has already abandoned.
-For every card you send/receive, toss a dollar into a jar to donate to your favorite horse rescue. Or make another call to your Senators!
-Ask your employer to hold a food drive for a day for the homeless shelters AND animal shelters in your city.
-While you're watching TV, knit or crochet a bunch of scarves and donate them.
-Send a card with something tucked inside to help out Mike Rea and Erin Brennan and brighten their day!
-Goodies for the NBC staff, the donor horses and the BIG BOSS HORSE!

My favorite police horse, Chocolate Chip, always wore a Santa Claus hat this time of year when he was on patrol, and I picture Barbaro doing the same, spreading all the good things he stands for. Now wouldn't THAT make a great card? (Chip, by the way, was retired with honors and now lives on the farm of the officer who was his partner. A well-deserved retirement that ALL police horses should have.)

Blessings to you all and keep BELIEVING.
Strength and sunshine and nothing but love to my buddy, Barbaro.

Posted by: Cora-IL at December 1, 2006 3:40 PM

I just got the WORST response letter I've ever gotten from a Senator. I don't want to list the individual's name, but it was such a ridiculous response I HAD to share! The letter starts out by thanking me for writing and being interested in political issues. It continues with the "I've supported this and that and worked really hard on that . . . blah, blah, blah". Then, it closes by telling me that "the bill I'm interested in is being addressed at the Federal level, and I should make contact at that level."

Help me out here guys. Could it even be possible that this Senator really does not know anything about this legislation? I want to contact his office by phone, but at this point, I'm not sure what exactly to say. Was this senator just giving vague answers perhaps? Didn't want to get involved in discussing this particular bill? If that's the case, why respond at all? I've gotten so many positive, upbeat responses from all of the other offices I've written and emailed and faxed, but nothing like this.

Advice?

Good morning all:
Here's a suggestion, just a suggestion! Those of you who are intent on bickering, apologizing, whining, etc. exchange e-mail addresses and take your fight to the luxury of privacy. Set up a temporary e-mail address for safety reasons if you must. But keep your personal stuff off this site. No more! There are wonderful, hard working people here who honestly care about horse slaughter, S.1915 and other horse issues. Your "stuff" drags us in it's wake. I'm an example. I should not be posting this. I should be talking about strategy for the next two weeks. So here's my final say which includes a challenge. Keep your stuff off this board because what you are doing is total disrespect for everyone. Stopping horse slaughter is very dear to Mrs. Jackson's heart. Let's see if you have any respect for her at all. If you do, your stuff is off this board and we will applaud you. But also stay here for S.1915. You are needed. We all are. But we only need team members with the focus on safety for America's equine.

HI to all,

So sorry to hear about the upcoming shut down.

In an effort to simplify finding email addresses, I have set up a discussion under Help/Site Issues called Email Address Directory.

This wasn't set up to be another discussion, just a directory of names and addresses.

Designgirl:
Post the senators name. Then call back. Ask the person who answers the phone if the senator has a specific aide assigned to S.1915! If so, get transferred and talk to that person. If you get a VM tell him/her to call you back. Now here's the key. Ask if the senator (or the aide) if he/she has any specific concerns. If they say yes, find out what they are, answer to the best of your ability then post the highlights on this board. Then we can all call. If the senator does not have someone specifically assigned to S.1915 talk to the person who answered the phone! Find out how much he/she knows. Post that info here. That's the process I used with Sen. Dayton's (Mn) aide. He had a few concerns, I addressed them, he seemed pleased, I know he was actually. Not that what I did made a difference, but Sen. Dayton is a co-sponsor and will be listed as such Monday. Anything helps. And keep calling the senators on the list being posted here. Debra and Socorro are right on!

RIGHT NOW THINGS ARE NOT LOOKING SO GREAT....WE NEED EVERYONE'S HELP REGARDLESS OF THE PERSONAL FEELINGS ON THE BOARD. T

HIS IS NOT ABOUT US....IT'S ABOUT THE HORSES THAT WE ARE TRYING TO SAVE.

IT'S TIME TO DIG OUR HEELS IN AND STAY FOCUSED ON THE ISSUE AT HAND IF WE HAVE ANY CHANCE OF WINNING THIS BATTLE!!!

I'M CONFIDENT THAT YOU WILL ALL PUT ASIDE YOUR DIFFERENCES AND WORK FOR THE GREATER GOOD!!

Many have asked how I am enjoying CA and I get sidetracked, sorry.

CA has had the most beautiful mornings and days I have seen in over 25 yrs. Wake up to a sunny day and able to see downtown Los Angeles from over 22 miles away, that is how clear it was for a few days.

If it were not for the millions of vehicles and buildings, you would think it was paradise. Beautiful mountains and hills, clear blue skies, cool weather during the day, and gorgeous sunsets.

If you guys need to relax, come back here and picture yourself as if you are here in CA, minus the millions of homes, buildings, and automobiles.

Linda H. - because of you I have a friend to meet.

Cheryl Jones - because of you I have learned Barbarospeak.

Laurie H. - because of you I see Barbaro tucked in at night with angels at his side.

Mary S. - because of you I hear the eloquence of prayer.

Martita - because of you I have rekindled my imagination and find beauty and possibility in all things.

Mike - because of you I envision the race of a lifetime for a big bay colt with a wonderful ending yet to be written.

Daryl, Shelly A. and all who work tirelessly for S1915 - because of you I have found a voice to speak that which needs to be spoken.

To all who have organized fundraisers, rescues and gifts - because of you I have received more than I could ever give.

Because of all of you I know the weather across the nation without the Weather Channel. I have learned to make bourbon balls, care for sick pets and relocate mice. I have obtained invaluable information about horses and racing. And I have learned about all of you, and I know that I am not alone.

Kennett Florist - because of you I have been involved with the most appreciative people in the world.

Dr. Richardson and NBC staff - because of you I have seen an unparalleled dedication and an unbridled joy at the smallest of steps.

Mr. & Mrs. Jackson - because of you I have seen the personal side of Barbaro's owners and the unmatched love you have for him.

Alex - because of you and Michael and Tim and Peter - I have been allowed into Barbaro's life, to see in my mind's eye his personality, determination and courage.

Barbaro - because of you I have found a brighter light, a higher purpose and another world. I have had it all. All because of you.

God bless you all.

I have been off this board for days. I've only skimmed today - so I am sorry if I am missing something important, but I had to say this. Please let the people that say they are leaving -please let them leave.

Stay focused on S1915 - when you make the calls SEE the senators listening, see them being moved to do the right thing, see this bill being passed - expect the best to happen. Our collective consciouness can bring about wonders -don't use your resources on the junk that can appear on this board. You can't do your best work focused on people causing such upset - let it go - in the name of BARBARO - let it go - for yourselves, and for the hightest good of this board.

But I know all about cliques on message boards, and they are alive and kicking with what is known as 'girl gangs' ... just a bunch of women who bully their way around a message board

Girl gangs or cliques are formed out of insecurity and ego trips ... a need for power and control, and when they see that slipping away, they resort to name-calling, attacks and a desire to preserve their enclave at all costs. Heaven forbid anyone who goes against them and you will then see the whole entourage come out in full force in defense of "their" leader, whoever that may be; sometimes it's more than one person, but if you watch long enough you will see who belongs to these cliques; it becomes very apparent after awhile.

SHAME ON ALL OF YOU.

WE ARE HOME.

The trip was very scary, but the nurse and Continental Airlines did everything possible to make my dad's trip as safe as possible. There are so many kind people. Total strangers came up to us on the plane to pray and offer their support.

My emotions have been a jumble. One thing I can count on: everytime I checked here I would cry tears of comfort and support. My family is very close and my dad has always been our rock.

All of you have sustained me and you are angels that sent hugs accross a big ocean. Here comes the mush: I love you ALL for doing it..... and my family members share that feeling. It felt like we had a village of Americans around us praying and hugging us.

My dad is in the hospital and still very ill, but the fact that he is still with us and back in his home country is a miracle. He told us that he did not want die away from "his America". Whatever happens now is a blessing. Dad got his wish.

To all who have gone through the same or going through it now: I pray that you will receive the same compassion we did.......and thank you for your words of wisdom.

The Barbaro effect has now blessed my family. I have no words to thank my FOB family. Just know that when we lost hope we would read your messages. God bless you all.

Subject: [NHPC eAlert] Letter from Willie Nelson- Please Cross Post

Dear Friends,

Following passage in the House of Representatives, the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act is pending in the Senate. As you know, the measure would ban the slaughter of horses for human consumption and the domestic and international transport of live horses or horseflesh for the same purpose. Efforts from concerned constituents like us have made all the difference in this fight - please continue to contact your Senators.

We hope the bill will be voted on by the Senate when Congress reconvenes on December 5th, but there will be limited time available and only issues seen as essential are expected to be addressed. We need to be sure Congress recognizes that this legislation is critical, as approximately 2,000 horses are being hauled to slaughter and brutally killed with every week this bill awaits action in the Senate.

Please contact both of your Senators today, urging their co-sponsorship of S. 1915, the Senate companion bill to H.R. 503, and requesting a vote on the legislation when they return on December 5th, which is their last chance to vote.

Thanks, Willie Nelson

P.S.

To find your Senators, go to: http://www.compassionindex.org/search.htm or call the Capitol Hill operator at (202) 224-3121 and request to be connected to their offices.

Hey Guys!

As we all know, all of our efforts to pass S1915 are culminating in these last days of 2006...

I WOULD LIKE TO ISSUE A CHALLENGE TO ALL FOBs to use the contact information on Socorro's/Debra in WI's list (2:47) and GET IN TOUCH WITH THESE SENATORS...

THIS IS SO EXTREMELY IMPORTANT...We have come so far and worked so hard. NO ONE HAS WORKED HARDER OR BEEN MORE FOCUSED THAN THE MEMBERS OF THIS BOARD. Each and every one of you have made it a point to see that this legislation is passed. That is something we all can be proud of.

So I am ISSUING THIS CHALLENGE...THAT WE SPEND EVERY LAST WANING BREATH OF THIS YEAR IN DOING ALL THAT WE CAN TO LET THEM KNOW WE ARE HERE AND WE WILL NOT STOP UNTIL S1915 BECOMES THE LAW OF THE LAND.

EVERYONE OF YOU MATTERS...through each FAX, each EMAIL,each PHONE CALL...one step at a time... thus building a coalition of those who will not stop UNTIL THE SLAUGHTER ENDS...

LET US REDOUBLE OUR EFFORTS AND ANSWER THIS CHALLENGE TO DRIVE OUR POINT HOME...S1915 MUST PASS...

LET US NOT LOOK BACK AND WONDER IF WE LEFT OUT A SINGLE CALL OR FAX OR EMAIL...

WE CAN DO THIS!

Just called Coleman's office as you asked and the very soft spoken gal that answered told me that Senator Coleman just hasn't made his views known yet. She said she'd be glad to give him my message which was, "to please help to get S.1915 to the floor for a vote. Even if you're neutral on this issue, it deserves to be heard as hundreds of thousands of lives are at stake here. So please at the very least don't hold up this very important piece of legislature! Help to make sure it is at least attached to something else so we, the American people can at least have our say!She said yes Ma'am I'll certainly give him your message. And,. . . Thanks for Calling Senator Coleman, and he'll be glad to hear your views.

So,. . . I don't know if it's what you expected to hear, but I'll call again later if I haven't run outta minutes by then.

And hey all, Smile, it'll give your face something to do,

Hello dear friends,

I am sad beyond words that the comments and discussion will be shut down. For the first time in my life, I have other "horse people" to talk to. The overwhelming majority of people I've met through TWR are wonderful, caring, intelligent people. I don't know what I would have done not knowing about Barbaro and getting these daily updates, being able to ask my stupid questions, and being able to DO something to end horse slaughter.

Alex--I am so grateful to you for your hard work and time that you've spent keeping us informed. Words are ridiculously inadequate to express my thanks.

Barbaro--not since Secretariat have I been so totally head over heels nuts about a horse. So many have been so inspiring--but you---you are something else and a half.

I don't know what I'll do without all my FOBs. Without being able to say "hay, Barbaro". Without Mary S and her prayers. Cheryl and her wonderful postings. And so, so many of you that I've enjoyed chatting with. You will all stay in my prayers.

I will continue to work against horse slaughter. But I will truly miss being able to "bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."

Peace,

For Alex;

Thank you for your dedication to every detail in providing us with all kinds of information vis a vis Barbaro, horse racing in general and other related equine information.

I have enjoyed all the international articles that have been linked over the last six months.

I have learned a tremendous amount from you and from all of the "connections" that you have linked for us.

If this were a college course in equestrian life and issues, I doubt I could have gleaned any more!

You are so knowledgable, experienced and willing to impart what you know to all who are interested.
Thank you so much. I look forward to learning more from you amd the updates and links that you will continue to provide.

Sincerely,
CRR

Thanks so much!!

Hay FOBs
Today I am stuck working on my second job which is catering dinner parties. Took a vacation day from my regular job. I'm here with you in spirit and I apologize I'm unable to make as many calls as I would like. My mantra is THINK HAY.....
Californinans keep calling Boxer & Feinstein. I'd like to know if Feinstein ever signed the letter. I've asked her to do so each & every call.
Please ask all you know to help us Monday & Tuesday for our Call In Days. Eddie Kilroy want us to slam em hard!!!
I love you guys....

Message from Mocha:
Good mooorning people:
Please keep working hard for Barbaro. Everytime I see him he is so upbeat. But he seemed a little sad yesterday. I asked what was wrong. He said his army of FOBs were dropping the ball, sad news took them away from helping his equine brothers and sisters. I said give them a little time. Emotions run deep in animal people like FOBs. They are genuinely sensitive. He agreed. So to really pick him up I took him to Dairy Queen! I bought him a Moolatte. They have a new one, I'm not making this up. It's called "MINT MOCHA!" Bobby cheered up and said to me I was the true Dairy Queen! Ah, a man, er, horse after my own heart! Bobby's all better. Now keep him that way and call, call, call!
Ms. Mocha
