Barbaro: All is in place

With all the pieces for the Preakness in place trainers and jockeys will be strategizing how to beat Barbaro. The tighter Pimlico turns play into the hands of front running speedsters like Brother Derek and could perhaps compromise the long striding Barbaro.

Edgar Prado knows Pimlico better than anyone, having started his career here in Maryland, and has so much confidence in Barbaro and Michael Matz, that he will no doubt have Barbaro in the perfect stalking position.

The weather has been mixed lately here, lets hope there is no more rain in the forecast. That being said the weather should not effect Barbaro, he has run in all conditions, and seemingly found all to his liking.

However whatever the scenario this weekend, Barbaro seems to be a horse that can overcome anything. Lets hope he can continue his quest for triple crown glory ... which is something the industry desparately needs, and Fair Hill would love to play its small role in racing history.

Whew. I am as nervous and anxious as if Barbaro were my own... God willing, he will show us all what he's really made of today. I have so much trust and admiration for Michael Matz as a trainer and in Edgar Prado's talent as a rider, that it's all now up to Barbaro. I believe he wants it, and that's half the battle.

Godspeed, Big Man. You can do it.

Good Luck wishes go out to "Barbaro" and his whole racing team. My heart and prayers are with you as you race today. I know you can Win this one without a doubt in my mind. Just go out there and do the best you can. You'll always be in my heart as One of THE GREATEST!
Good Luck and God Bless!

I think we are all getting nervous / excited to see Barbaro clear this leg of the triple crown. Many believe this is the toughest leg for Barbaro, lets just hope he shows up like he did in the Derby!

I am so happy to see that Barbaro is doing well, good to see owners that gives their horses a chance to carry on. I really know what Barbaro owners goes through, my last thoroughbred had two complicated colic-operations in 5 months at 4 years age, I thought he would not survive the 2nd, but he hat guts like Barbaro. We had 4 happy years together untill the last colic came and took him away.
It is not the same case, but my feelings are with Barbaro, his owners and everyone that care for him. All the best and regards from a Norwegian living in Tenerife, Canary Islands.

BELIEVE!!!!!!!! We here at EPONA ( equine protection of north america )and Inspiration Farm all wish BARBARO continued good healing. That scene at the point where he "broke down" was the worst I have ever seen. We are all praying for his speedy recovery and hope to see him retired to "STUD" with full capabilities, so he can enjoy the rest of his years in comfort.

I think Tim said it best here in the piece above, "Barbaro: All is in place" in the last paragraph when he mentions that "Barbaro seems to be a horse that can overcome anything." Although he was referring to Barbaros chances for the Preakness, those words now have a special meaning, and hope, for all of us that are praying for Barbaros complete recovery. Heartfelt thanks for all who care for and love animals.
